EVERY homeowner should know... ⬇️
With storm season approaching, here are some things every homeowner must know…
🔸 Take as many PHOTOS and VIDEOS as you can of any hail on or around your property. It is not uncommon to have to push back in order for an insurance claim to be fairly assessed. This can be crucial evidence.
🔸 When a big hail storm hits, contractors come flooding in from other counties/parishes and even states. If you don’t already have a roofer that you can trust — be sure to vet anyone that comes to your door. (License, insurance, where are they from?)
🔸 Work with a LOCAL company. These “fly-bys” may get the job done, but if an issue ever arises.. they are nowhere to be found.
This is what really sets Hargrove apart from even our local competitors.
Not only are we local, but we warranty our shingled roofs for the LIFETIME of the shingle.
So not only are we here right now, tomorrow, and the next day.. but we will be here in 5 years, 15 years, 25 years if you ever have a roofing problem.
🔸 Do not let contractors make a bunch of chalk marks on your roof to mark up damage (photos do just fine)!
When there is a large hail storm, insurance companies will send out a swarm of inspectors and adjusters to make claim handling as quick and efficient as possible.
Having chalk marks all over the roof can hinder the inspection from the insurance company and potentially have a negative effect on your claim determination.
🔸 If you have a trusted roofer, and they help you get your roof approved — let them work with your insurance company.
Most policies have endorsements that cover any upgrades to meet international building code standards. These upgrades will not be paid out without the proper documentation. Also, most jobs will require additional repairs that are unforeseen.
These are additional costs that your contractor can make sure gets covered or at least give you the best chance for coverage.
There may be some instances where not working directly with insurance is more ideal, but these types of claims are rare. If you have an honest roofer — they will tell you what is best for YOU.
As always… if you have a roofer that you can trust, great!
If not, give me a call or save my number! 🙏🏼
