to Steve Weagle from WPTV’s Ride for the Red Cross!

As we settle into another hurricane season, we're reminded that this is the first without Chief Meteorologist Steve Weagle's annual Ride for the Red Cross and his coverage during major storms.

What began as Steve's vision in 1999 grew into a South Florida tradition. With the support of WPTV, his five-day, 125-mile charity ride raised nearly $2 million for the local American Red Cross while reminding our community of the importance of hurricane preparedness each year.

Bayview Construction Services was proud to support Steve's mission through annual donations to the Weagle Ride. It was a cause that meant a great deal to our General Contractor & Principal, Ken Ringe, who also dedicated nine years of service to the American Red Cross Board of Directors, including as Vice Chair.

Steve, thank you for turning your passion for community service into a legacy that continues to inspire. You are missed, and your impact will not be forgotten.

And if we're being honest... hurricane coverage just isn't going to be quite the same without watching for the moment the tie comes off and the sleeves get rolled up. That's when everyone along the Treasure Coast knew it was time to pay attention.

Did you know? Concrete doesn't "dry" to become strong. It actually hardens through a chemical reaction called hydration, where cement and water bond together over time. Before the cement is properly cured, it is soft. Which might be why we found these little prints!

Don’t worry, the concrete was filled in to erase this animal's mischief. That's why properly curing concrete is one of the most important steps in creating a durable foundation.

As of June 6, Florida has changed its contractor licensing laws to allow experienced out-of-state contractors to obtain a Florida contractor license through an endorsement process rather than the traditional examination pathway. For homeowners, it raises an important question: What does a contractor license tell you, or doesn't tell you?

A license is an important credential, but it does not tell homeowners everything they need to know about a contractor before hiring them. Experience, project history, contract terms and overall project fit should also be evaluated before deciding to hire a contractor.
