HEY UMASS!

It's that time of year AGAIN!

UMassGives starts WEDNESDAY!

TL;DR: look for links to be posted in the comments throughout the week... Tell your friends to do the same

On April 29 and 30th, please consider making a gift to the UMass Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning. Our focus this year is on fundraising for the Frank Waugh Alumni Board Scholarship Fund.

This fund provides ongoing support for ALL LARP students -- undergrad or graduate, all majors -- providing student scholarships, travel to academic and professional conferences, or necessary technology to enhance student experiences.

I hope that you will join me in supporting UMASS LARP this week, and if I may be extra particular:

PLEASE DONATE DURING OUR POWER HOUR! 12-1 WEDNESDAY, 4/29!

Gifts of ANY size made during that hour make us eligible for bonus funds from the University.

These donation are vital as we look toward the future of the program and the professions.

Please help support the Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning Department and our students. We need your support more than ever.

Thank you!

Not the sexiest work in progress photo, so I'm adding a pic of the doggo sunbathing for a bonus 🌞

I got to do a site visit with the construction team in Chelsea yesterday, sorting through some site details before we move ahead with the FUN stuff.

How great is this facade?!?

I actually WANTED to use all black and white site furniture on this one! See you soon,

(Ignore the overhead wires and construction debris/fencing, please)

Had a great day with friends hearing from amazing women like Diana Nyad, Martha Stewart, Simone Biles, and Mel Robbins!

I even survived the mass meditation! 😁

Thanks for another great day, Conferences for Women!

Throwback Thursday - to TUESDAY of this week?! 🤣

I'm feeling a bit understaffed over here, and forgot to share the results of my tagging trip to

Somehow I never take pictures of the trees while I'm in the midst of things. Keeping tabs on my clipboard of planting plans and lists and pen, hopping in and out of the golf cart AND not tripping over irrigation lines or root balls or falling into dug holes distracts me, I guess!

Is there hazard pay for landscape architects?

After circling the tree yard, I got to visit the perennials site, where the amazing staff took me to a great selection of native plants for the butterfly garden being installed in Dorchester this week. Kudos to the staff member tasked with collecting all of the native plants into one zone, AND for her help selecting which "nativars" function most like their straight species.

Michelle, Johnny, Kayla and friends went above and beyond!

Dear readers, I can't believe I haven't shared this yet! We got a new pup!

He currently specializes in chewing, with his favorite target being my hands and arms, so some lucky virtual meeting members have seen me being attacked by what appears to be a wolf when the blur's turned on 😂

You may have also caught sight of him in an RBLA story a while back.

His name is Banner (as in Title Town banners) and he's coming up on a year old, we think. We adopted him through and picked him up from Hearts, LLC - Hopson Express Animal Rescue Service almost 3 months ago.

He loves to go for five, so looks forward to pre-construction site visits and several ribbon cuttings this fall!

Lots of fun progress to see on today's weekly visit to the Steven P. Odom Serenity Garden!

The 💜 purple 💜 moon gate was delivered and just needs its footings.

The labyrinth template has been laid out and is awaiting unit paver lines and stone dust paths.

And the soon to be invisible parts of the water feature continue to be assembled.

This one's been a LONG time coming, and we can't wait to celebrate the opening with the family, ROC, and the very patient neighborhood this fall!
