🔥 Loose Connection = Burned Wire. This Is What Happens. 🔥
Pulled this out of a customer’s panel today.
This was not old wiring or a bad breaker.
It was a loose connection. And this is exactly what loose terminations do. They arc, overheat, and eventually cook the conductor until it fails.
Once the copper burns like this, the insulation is ruined, the conductor is weakened, and the circuit is no longer safe. At that point the only correct repair is to cut it back to clean copper, re-terminate it properly, or run a new section if the damage traveled too far.
A few reminders:
• Loose connections are one of the top causes of electrical fires.
• “It was working fine yesterday” means nothing once heat cycles start.
• The panel is not the place for guesswork or half tight screws.
This is why every connection needs to be mechanically solid, torqued, and checked. Not hand tight. Not “feels good.” It must be done properly.
If you have flickering lights, warm outlets, or anything that does not seem right, get it looked at before it turns into this.
