Nothing beats the satisfaction of smooth concrete. But, even with the best care, concrete will naturally wear over time.
Common causes of concrete cracking include:
🪨 Soil Settlement
When the soil shrinks or compacts unevenly, it removes the uniform support beneath the slab.
🌡️ Temperature Changes
Concrete expands and contracts with temperature; if this movement is restricted, cracks will form to release the pressure.
💧 Poor Drainage
Water creates saturated soil that loses its load-bearing capacity, leading to voids below that create cracks.
🔩 Lacking Control Joints
Expansion joints provide relief from internal stresses that naturally build up over time. Without these joints, the concrete must relieve stress by cracking.
