Ship Watch is a contemporary take on a traditional island home.
Designed by Herlong Architects, the Mt. Pleasant home was oriented to maximize its views of the Intracoastal waterway, with porches on three levels to enjoy them.
Inside, Venetian plaster finishes the kitchen hood and fireplace surround, and quartzite and large-format tile line the shower walls. Integrated LED accent lighting and Ipe railings complete a palette that is warm, durable, and carefully detailed.
Beneath it all is an 84-foot-deep helical pile foundation, a quiet decision that supports the home for the long term. Built by Sea Island Builders. Photography by Margaret Wright.

A dated 1990s home, transformed into a modern marsh-front retreat.

Modern Marsh Views in Mt. Pleasant was designed for clients downsizing from a large family home into a smaller, turn-key retreat suited to a globe-trotting lifestyle. Architecture by Studio 291, LLC. The first floor and much of the second were opened up, an elevator was added, and expansive windows now frame 180-degree views of the Intracoastal.
The exterior was rebuilt in Hardie and Azek with an impact-rated window and door package, and a Costa Rican-style indoor/outdoor shower off the primary bath reflects the clients' modern, eclectic style. Every detail considered.

Island Beach Cottage began as two separate structures from the 1830s.
On Sullivan's Island, Beau Clowney Architects combined them into a single dwelling. The work involved moving, raising and elevating, preserving, restoring and adding onto the original elements, always in service of the property's historic character and the way a family lives today. Landscape architecture by Wertimer & Associates completes the composition.
The home was featured in both Coastal Living and Town & Country Living. National press is rare for a local builder. We take it as confirmation that restraint, carried through every decision, is legible to the people who look at a great many houses.

Your dream home is closer than you thinkโ€ฆ.

At Wild Turkey Way, the outdoor living spaces were thoughtfully designed around the view. The pool sits low and calm so it reflects the architecture and opens toward the water beyond. The screened porch extends the home outdoors, and its retractable screens disappear when the evening is right and come back down when the Lowcountry asks for them.

Every detail considered, from the standing seam roofline to the porch columns mirrored in the water.
