🐜 Bug of the Week: The Acrobat Ant!

No tiny circus tent required. 🎪 These little ants get their name from a pretty impressive trick — when disturbed, they can raise their heart-shaped abdomen up over their body.

Acrobat ants are often associated with damp or moisture-damaged wood, so finding them around your home can sometimes be a clue that there’s more going on than just a few wandering ants.

And remember: seeing ants doesn’t always mean “grab the spray.” Knowing exactly what kind of ant you’re dealing with helps determine where they’re coming from and the best way to handle them.

You never know what we’re going to find under a house! 👀

When we’re in a crawl space doing a termite inspection or treatment, termites aren’t always the only thing we find. We may spot signs of rodents, other pests, moisture issues, plumbing concerns, or something around the HVAC that just doesn’t look quite right.

Now, we’re pest-control professionals — not plumbers or HVAC technicians — and we’ll never pretend otherwise. But after more than 30 years of crawling under homes, we know when something deserves a homeowner’s attention.

If it’s a pest problem we can handle, we’ll tell you what we can do. If it’s outside our wheelhouse, we’ll still let you know what we saw so you can get the right person to take a look.

🐜 **BUG OF THE WEEK #3: FLORIDA CARPENTER ANT**

Florida carpenter ants are among the largest ants you may find around your home. Their reddish-orange coloring and glossy black abdomen make them fairly easy to recognize.

Unlike termites, carpenter ants do **not** eat wood. They excavate soft or moisture-damaged wood to create nesting spaces. Finding large ants indoors—particularly at night or near damp wood—may mean a nest is nearby.

Moisture correction is often an important part of lasting carpenter ant control.
