🎃 Scary movies are one thing. A surprise bug in the bathroom? That’s a different story.

When an unexpected crawler appears, which person are you?

A. The calm investigator: “Let me get a picture.”
B. The negotiator: “You stay over there, and I’ll stay over here.”
C. The caller: “Somebody come get this!”
D. Already outside. No further questions. 😂

Here at The Bug Doctor, we appreciate a clear picture—and we understand a startled phone call, too!

🐜 SUGAR ANTS, SUGAR ANTS EVERYWHERE!

If you’ve called us about tiny ants in your kitchen this week, you’re definitely not alone! Our phones have been ringing with calls about these little troublemakers.

But here’s something you might not know…

“Sugar ants” isn’t actually the name of one particular species here in Florida!

Those tiny ants marching across your countertop could be ghost ants, pharaoh ants, or another species attracted to food and moisture.

And here’s why that matters:

🔍 Different ants require different treatment approaches.

Some species can actually make a bigger problem out of a smaller one when the wrong products are used. Spraying the ants you see isn’t always the best solution!

💡 THE BUG DOCTOR TIP: Wipe up spills, store food in sealed containers, eliminate moisture sources, and resist the urge to spray every ant trail with whatever’s under the kitchen sink.

📸 Not sure what kind of ants you’ve got? Send us a clear picture! Proper identification helps us recommend the right approach.

Because when it comes to pest control, knowing WHAT you’re dealing with is just as important as knowing HOW to treat it.

🕷️ BUG OF THE WEEK #8: BROWN WIDOW SPIDER

That little spiky ball in a messy web isn’t a tiny Halloween decoration—it may be a brown widow egg sac!

Brown widows can range from tan to very dark brown. Look for banded legs, a rounded abdomen and an orange-red hourglass marking underneath. Their most recognizable clue may be the cream-colored, spiky egg sacs, which resemble sandspurs.

They often build messy webs in protected, undisturbed areas around structures, fences, sheds and outdoor furniture.

If you find a suspected widow spider:

🔍 Look without touching
📸 Take a clear photo from a safe distance
🧤 Use caution when moving stored items
🚫 Never handle the spider or egg sacs bare-handed

Widow spiders have medically significant venom, so identification and caution matter.

Found a spider you don’t recognize? Send The Bug Doctor a clear photograph or call 352-237-0122.

🎉 Help us welcome the newest member of The Bug Doctor family — Dillon Coop! 🐜

Dillon brings something we really appreciate to our team: a curious mind and a problem-solving approach to pest control.

He’s not just interested in getting rid of pests. He wants to know WHY they’re there in the first place and what’s going to be the most effective way to treat the problem.

With excellent instincts, strong critical-thinking skills, and a background in critter control, Dillon brings valuable knowledge and a fresh perspective to our crew.

Around here, we believe good pest control is about more than spraying bugs. It’s about understanding the problem and doing the job right.

We’re excited to have Dillon on board and can’t wait for our customers to get to know him!

Welcome to the team, Dillon! 👏❤️

Kelly is pictured on the left and Renee on the right.

Customer care begins long before a technician arrives at the door.

Our office team answers pest questions, examines mystery bug pictures, coordinates routes, updates accounts and works through the inevitable last-minute schedule changes—all while trying to make the process as easy as possible for our customers.

We’re grateful for the patience, organization and genuine care they bring to work each day. We’re also thankful for the customers who trust our small local team and treat us with kindness along the way.

Has someone in our office been especially helpful to you? Please leave them a little appreciation in the comments—we’d love for them to see it! ❤️

Ever wonder what a bed bug heat treatment actually looks like?

These photos are from one of our recent treatments — and yes, it takes a little more than turning up the thermostat! 😄

Our Heat Division uses specialized equipment to deliver heated air throughout the treatment area. We use large ductwork to move that heat inside and around furniture, mattresses, cracks, crevices and the other tiny places bed bugs like to hide.

The important part isn’t just getting the house hot. We carefully monitor temperatures and maintain the required heat throughout the treatment so it can reach bed bugs hiding where traditional treatments may have difficulty reaching them.

And that’s one of the reasons we like heat: it allows us to treat the whole environment, not just the bed where you happened to find the bugs.

These are real pictures from a real Bug Doctor treatment. No stock photos here. 🔥🐞

Think you may have bed bugs? Send us a picture for identification or give us a call.

🍂 Happy fall, Central Florida!

The calendar says fall. The thermometer says, “That’s adorable.” 😂

Around here, fall can mean pumpkin displays, slightly shorter days—and one cool morning that disappears before lunch.

What officially makes it feel like fall to you?

A. The first cool morning
B. Pumpkin spice
C. Halloween decorations
D. Opening the windows for exactly 12 minutes

Tell us your answer in the comments!

Whatever fall looks like at your house, The Bug Doctor hopes you enjoy the season.

🐾 Fleas don’t always mean packing up the whole family and leaving the house for hours!

We prefer to start with a simple, targeted approach: treat the pets, keep them protected, and vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Then vacuum some more. 😉

The goal is to break the flea life cycle without doing more than necessary.

Have a flea problem and aren’t sure what you need? Give The Bug Doctor a call. We’ll help you figure it out.
