Some homeowners want the roof that gets by. This one wanted the roof that lasts.

On this Greensboro roof replacement, a reflective Sol-R-Skin thermal underlayment went down first to help keep summer heat out of the attic. On top went CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles in Moire Black with a Class III impact rating, finished with ShadowRidge caps.

It's all backed by CertainTeed's 4-Star SureStart warranty and the Hearthstone Restoration lifetime workmanship warranty.

Shawn would like to thank everyone for the write-in support. He respectfully declines. 🙃

Turns out he’d be terrible in office. He keeps his promises, he hates red tape, and he can’t sit through a meeting without asking when the crew starts. He’d last about a week.

So he’s staying right where he is, catching drones in front yards and running roof replacements across Greensboro and the Triad. Same crew for over a decade. Clean yard every time. Warranty in writing.

If you spot our yard sign this week, no, he’s not on the ballot.

Go vote today, NC. Then leave the roofs to Hearthstone Restoration. 🗳️

All spring and summer, every look at the dashboard came with a math problem. Add an hour, second-guess it, give up and check my phone. 😅

Sunday morning it fixes itself. No buttons, no owner's manual, no effort on my part. Best day of the year for this truck.

Be honest, who else never bothered to change theirs? 👇

Nobody opened it. Nobody's going in first, either. 👻

We love an old home. The craftsmanship, the history, the hundred years of stories in the framing. Some of them just like to say hello this time of year.

So we're rescheduling this roof build for November. The house can have Halloween to itself.

Happy Halloween from all of us at Hearthstone Restoration. 🎃

Halfway through this tear-off, the crew put the tools down.

It started with a call from a Wendell homeowner about roof leaks in more than one room. Our inspection found hail damage across the shingles and the soft metals, the vents and flashing that take a beating in a hailstorm. We helped her file the claim, and insurance approved a full roof replacement.

Then the old shingles came off. The roof boards underneath were spaced apart, with gaps between every board and nothing solid to hold a nail.

Plenty of crews would shingle right over it and stay on schedule. A new roof needs solid wood under every nail to lie flat and seal, so we stopped the build.

We worked with the adjuster, showed exactly what we found, and got new decking approved for the whole roof. Then the crew decked over the entire roof and built the new roof on top.

That's how every Hearthstone Restoration roof replacement runs. When we find something under the shingles, you hear about it, and it gets done right before we keep going.

After some storms rolled through the Triad, they decided it was time for a new roof, and they wanted one built for the years ahead. We sat down together, walked through every option, and they chose a set of upgrades to future-proof their home.

On this Greensboro roof replacement, the old shingles came off down to the decking. Sol-R-Skin, a Class A thermal underlayment, went down first. On top went CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles in Moire Black, rated Class III for impact resistance, finished with ShadowRidge caps. The flat roof over the front porch got its own EPDM membrane.

The whole roof is backed by CertainTeed’s 4-Star SureStart warranty and the Hearthstone Restoration lifetime workmanship warranty, installed by the same crews we’ve trusted for over a decade.

Their fourth estimate came from the company that had finished the roof next door.

Hail had left this Pembroke home with more damage than the homeowners realized. They already had three estimates, and they’d been told to expect a six-month wait while companies worked through the backlog.

Shawn met with them, then came back with drone footage of their roof already flown, so both homeowners could see the damage for themselves. In Christina Dial’s words: “I feel like Shawn has been honest and up front with everything.”

Once the insurance deposit came through, Shawn could have a crew there in two weeks. The homeowners were away on a cruise with a tropical storm headed their way, and the crew finished the roof replacement on their almost 5,000 square foot home before it arrived.

The new roof covers 105 squares on a steep 14/12 pitch, with CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Burnt Sienna, ShadowRidge hip and ridge caps, PermaBoots on the pipe penetrations and black drip edge.

One outdoor garage light was damaged during the job. The exact fixture couldn’t be found, so Shawn’s answer was to replace all three garage lights so they’d match. “That says a lot about his integrity and work.”

Pilot Mountain can keep its flat top. This roof needed a slope.

On this High Point home, the back roof sat flat, so rain had nowhere to go. The right answer for this roof replacement was to change the shape of the roof itself.

The crew removed the flat section, reframed it, and re-sloped the back roof for proper drainage. Full ice and water shield went down underneath before the new roof went on.

Then came the finishing details: custom forged drip edge, a new copper chimney, and 6-inch gutters and guards colorized to match the roof.

You'll probably buy one roof in your life. This is what it looks like when the owner runs the job.

We hear from homeowners whose roof replacement went wrong because nobody was in charge once the crew showed up. On a project you'll only do once, that's the part that matters most.

On this home in the Triad, the old shingles came off to plank boards with gaps. Shawn was the one making the call, and new decking went down before a single shingle did.

That's how every Hearthstone Restoration job runs. Shawn flies the drone through the build and sends updates, the same crews we've trusted for over a decade do the work, and every new roof comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty.

If you're getting quotes for a new roof in Greensboro or anywhere in the Triad, ask every roofing company one question: who's running my job?

We try to play it cool when a roof is finished. We can't. 😂

The Hearthstone Restoration crew gets excited about every roof we build. Straight lines, clean valleys, a yard with no nails in it, and a homeowner seeing their home look brand new from the top down.

But when a job calls for copper? This kid is all of us.

Copper takes more hand work and more patience, and it makes the whole house look better for decades. We will never be calm about it.

You love that? We love that.
