Sugar Lake Transformation!

A project somewhat of out of our wheel house but when an old family friend called earlier this spring I jumped at the opportunity.
After all, scaling a hillside like this, in this area, and completely transforming a steep hill into useful functional space are what I dreamed about 20+ years ago in high school/college, and as I cut my teeth at my first landscaping job.
This project started fairly basic-steps and a small wall along the house. Things progressed and we decided to terrace the bank with boulder walls and flagstone platforms.
All that’s left is a deck and finish seeding but Wayne will clean up the light work with his CanAm 😉

Enjoy Gabrelcik’s

ALSO-if you do have a project you’d like to get done before the snow flies we do have some time yet later in the season. Pavers, retaining walls, and dormant hydroseeding can certainly be done before winter.
AND-we can’t forget about winter, now is a fantastic time to chat about potential over the ice shoreline restoration projects.

Cute little entryway transformation for the Larson family in Willmar!
I first met Curt and Jean in 2019 back when I did the home show in Willmar. There was a connection there from the beginning as I grew up near Elrosa and Curt and Jean are fellow BBE graduates as well.
What first turned out as a lawn tune up project turned into 3 patios, a large set of steps as several other items over the past 7 years.
For the final portion of their outdoor renovations we removed a sagging sidewalk and overgrown ground cover and installed new Belgard pavers, plants, river rock, mulch, bucket edging, catch basin for down spout and a few plants all in a couple days time!
Huge thanks to the Larson’s for the continued support over the years and the guys-Hunter, Levi, and Carter for helping get this one shined up despite an inch of rain overnight mid project!

After battling the rain for the past several weeks we were finally able to put the finishing touches on not one but two projects yesterday!

Project 1- We started this project on George Lake near spicer last fall with boulder walls. As construction wrapped up it was time for landscaping and we delivered with Rochester Reno pavers, mulch, flagstone, catch basins and hydroseeding!
I even had to bribe the kids with Zorbaz to help finish this one!

Project 2- a victim of high water the last couple years we rebuilt collapsed stairs, retaining wall, 50’ of shoreline and something fairly uncommon for us-SOD!!

It really is impressive to me what can be accomplished with favorable weather and good help. 2 yards dialed in and ready for the 4th of July weekend.

Another makeover for repeat clients Dale and Jill Hecht!

Dale and Jill reached out in April looking for an “emergency make over” so to speak for a graduation party. That took place last weekend.
Overbooked from the fall for the spring rush I told them it was going to be tight but I think we can make it happen.
As I’m trying to figure out how we can squeeze this in I remembered something. I have an awesome crew.
I have never ever been wild about the thought of not being on site everyday. There are a lot of variables that can go really great or really wrong in a hurry. I like to be there for the guys if there’s potential issues (they may not agree). I also prefer to give my clients as much personal attention to each project as possible.
But my foreman Hunter is in his 5th season with us. He was on this site back in 2022 for a fairly large patio/retaining wall transformation. Levi or “swervy” is in his 3rd season with us and knows the system well.
I checked with Hechts to see if they were ok with these boys taking the lead on this one and they were 100% on board. Hunter was fired up to spearhead his first project.
So, one hot WINDY day we all came out removed existing material, painted lines, and I left it in there hands.
They crushed it-2 pallets of bullet edging, 2 truck loads of mulch, 2 truck loads of cobblestone rock, 6 low voltage landscape accent lights and repair work all in 3 days.
Not a huge project but a huge transformation from poor grass struggling to grow in rooty clay/sand soils under trees to beautiful rock/mulch/edging and proper soil/seeding.
Thanks Hechts and thanks boys for making it all work

It’s been a really cool wet spring thus far and this week kicked our butts! Luckily we were able to put the finishing touches on this Lake Scandi beauty today.
This one had everything and I love everything projects. Pavers-the Reno variety from Rochester, seating wall, boulders, flagstone, mulch, plants and edging!
What a huge transformation congrats and enjoy Liz and family!

At 38 years young meet Reba.

Much like her owner she’s slow, tired, and not much to look at.
BUT everything that needs to work does, she has a strong back, and days like today when we are split up between 2 job sites we are grateful to have her around.

We started this project a year later to the day of me first looking at it last spring. There was still snow on the ground both times. What a spectacular transformation. Plants to be installed at an upcoming later date.
