He moved on and became the University Arborist at Perdue Fort Wayne.
He got his Certified Arborist Certification today! Really proud to see an excellent former employee excel in an impressive role.

Apprentice tree climber Trevor constantly being picked on, but in all reality he's doing a great job. Bracing this tree with a ratchet strap so we can get back to remove it later (in a few weeks) is a critical protective step to prevent failure onto a nearby house. About 10 feet of included bark splitting and lots of movement ! All the fun for Trevor!

Getting levelled up to cut down a tree on some steep streets in Deadwood. Have to push the limit to make it work. I guess I could have climbed too but I sure don't mind taking the lift up.

Pollen vid. Not that exciting but I think this western pine pollen is nuts. Ignore the pink glasses, the sale price couldn't be beaten.

Beware of heavy snow on trees that have developed leaves.
Tomorrow we could have some issues because limbs could break or trees could fall from the extreme weight loading of snow on newly developed leaves.
Don't park under limbs or trees that you suspect could fail.
Maybe it'll melt off but if not shake it off where possible

I could use 1 more guy this summer season or year round if it's the right guy. I run a crew as an arborist performing tree pruning, removal, recovery, and care. We do defensible space around cabins and small acreage forest management.
I have good equipment and supply top notch tools and personal protective equipment.
I'm the only tree service offering management and oversight on every job by a :
TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional,
ISA Certified Arborist,
WY AND SD Certified Commercial Applicator,
ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified individual.
Probably some other certifications/quals I forgot about.
I have some nice tools, and if there is something that is reasonable and makes our challenging job easier, I go buy it. Everyone wears a 500$ + helmet with integrated communication so there is no yelling over equipment. This is state if the art, refined, sometimes relaxed operation.

Who I'm looking for:
I need a guy who can work. Experience is cool but not required. I'm building in an apartment at our shop so this guy could potentially move in if coming from somewhere else and needs to live at our shop while testing the water and getting settled.
If you are green (new) to labor completely expect pay 14$/hr.
If you are billy badass and have performed tree work in an aerial capacity in the past it could be as high as $30/hr.
If you have a bad driving record it could be tough, we'll have to run it by insurance and see if you are eligible. Driving is a critical role. Must be 18 plus, I already have a 16 year old apprentice named Trevor who can't drive but he makes up for it with his witty attitude and general strength.

Is your tree service calling 811 before grinding stumps and even some tree removal projects?

811 calls are legally required for any contractor to break the surface of the ground. Sure glad we did on this, because the fiber optic cat V cable was right where we were working.

Stump grinding was done after we removed this tree by Stumps by Suz Llc and she did a great job!

Doing some spraying+fertilizer across Crook County. Lots of great days before this cold stormy weather, but we needed the moisture.

I climbed up a spruce tree to remove a mostly dead codominant leader. I didn't take the critical before picture but I smiled like it was a middle school photo album picture so that makes up for it.
It was cool, in my opinion the most valuable pruning that can be done is when you have a dying lead with about 50 percent dead material. The living portions don't allow the tree to fully compartmentalize the dying portion, so removing it allows the tree to actually move on instead of letting a leader continue to decline for 5-10 more years, allowing potential decay to spread into the trunk.
