Welcome to Sigura Construction, and the world of commercial, residential and multi-housing construction. Ilan began working in residential and commercial construction at the age of 16. His father, who was a contractor, taught him the trade. After graduating from university in Israel with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Ilan continued working in the field of construction in New Jersey while pursuing his second degree in Computer Software, from Montclair State University. After moving to California, Ilan committed his time to establishing a general construction business. Sigura Construction has quickly become a leader in the commercial, residential and multi-housing areas of construction. Today, we are a family owned business serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area. With over 22 years of experience in the construction field, we pride ourselves on providing high quality services, excellent customer care, and prompt performance and reliability. We power washed this flat roof and sprayed the bleed blocker primer (the yellow coat) to seal in the old asphalt before the new system goes on.

Another backyard transformation in progress in San Jose, for a client who trusted us enough to come back! 🙌

Here’s where we are:
✅ Concrete walkway poured
✅ Concrete slab for the shed poured
✅ New patio floor installed
✅ Custom wood patio cover built
✅ Electrical and plumbing run to the greenhouse

Adding a second story? Your foundation matters. 🏗️

In about 90–95% of cases, the foundation has to be made bigger. A one-story home isn't designed to carry two stories, so it usually needs to be wider, and sometimes deeper, to support the weight and earthquakes. Sometimes the existing foundation is already strong enough. We check in advance.

How long does a home addition ACTUALLY take? 🏗️

Ilan Sigura breaks it down with two real Sigura Construction projects:

▪️ 1,400 sq ft house + 1,000 sq ft addition, entire house rebuilt: 7 months
▪️ 1,800 sq ft house, addition + full remodel: 6 months

The honest answer? It depends on the size of the addition and the scope of work, and it varies from job to job. The best way to know your timeline is to have someone look at your home.

San Jose Front Yard Remodel: Porch & Driveway Pavers Update

Progress update on this San Jose front yard remodel! The driveway pavers are complete, and we're now paving the porch and side area of the house to tie everything together.

Ilan Sigura of Sigura Construction breaks down the three main types of inground pools, which one holds up best over time?

Vinyl is the most affordable but least durable, with a thin liner that can tear over time. Fiberglass offers better durability but comes in pre-set shapes only. Concrete is the most durable and versatile, custom shapes, rebar reinforcement, and works well on sloped lots too.

Bottom line: for long-term durability and design freedom, concrete wins, it’s our pool of choice.
