Crew Lead in Training – Surfside Beach Lawn Service
Surfside Beach Lawn Service is seeking a motivated and dependable Crew Lead in Training to join our team. This position offers a pathway to leadership positions, performance-based pay, and year-round employment with seasonal fluctuations.
During the initial training phase, compensation is $15/hour. After successful completion of training, pay transitions to a performance-based labor commission structure, where efficient and motivated crew leaders can earn $20–$30 per hour.

Schedule & Seasonal Expectations
This role’s hours fluctuate based on the season:
Winter Season (Current): Training hours are part-time and will vary.
Spring Onward (Starting March): Workload increases significantly, averaging 40–50 hours per week.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
- Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be considered:
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record (as defined by company insurance requirements)
- Strong motivation and work ethic
- Reliable transportation to and from our shop in Angleton
- Consistent punctuality
- Demonstrated professionalism, honesty, and respectfulness
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
Preferred Skills & Qualities
While not required, candidates with the following abilities or experience will receive priority consideration:
- Previous leadership or crew management experience
- Light mechanical skills (oil changes, blade replacements, small tool assembly, greasing fittings, etc.)
- Professional lawn care or landscaping experience
- Ability to efficiently pull and back a double-axle trailer
- Flexible availability and ability to work on short notice, especially due to weather-related schedule changes
- Position Responsibilities (After Training)
Once fully trained, Crew Leads are responsible for:
- Leading and managing a crew with professionalism and accountability
- Performing mowing, edging, weedeating, and blowing services across 200+ properties every two weeks in peak season
- Maintaining weekly services for two large apartment complexes
- Completing occasional landscaping projects (flowerbeds, sod installation, etc.)
- Maintaining excellent attendance and arriving on time daily
- Driving a truck with a trailer safely and efficiently
- Performing routine equipment maintenance (oil changes, blade sharpening/changes, tool tune-ups, etc.)
- Managing shop inventory and ensuring equipment is clean, organized, and operational
- Keeping assigned work trucks clean and organized
