Ever talk to a Fisherman and it's as if they speak in another language?
Gear- Handmade tackle used for commercial fishing. Everyone has their preferences, some like short leads in between hooks, some prefer them longer. Some are made using monofilament, others are made from cable (shark depredation); we can take it back old school and deploy rope gears also.
"oh s**t we are out of gears"
'Hand over fist' - while some may think it's making money hand over fist, I can assure you it's quite literally pulling up each gear/fish 'hand over fist'.
Rig- Oil rigs made by man that have become reef structure and habitats for thousands of species. We have lost a tremendous amount of our reefs due to clean up efforts in the past 10 years. While there is finally some traction on stopping the explosion 💥 of our reefs in the Gulf; it's important we remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side. When one of these reefs are removed, fish loose their homes and a large volume 'float' (die) during the process.
"They blew up a rig and there were fish floating for 5 Nm around it."
