HE IS RISEN!
Not only has He risen, but HE REIGNS!
The grave is empty.
The cross is finished.
And the King is enthroned.
“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.” — Matthew 28:6 (ESV)
But the story doesn’t stop at resurrection, it ascends to glory.
“So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.” — Mark 16:19 (ESV)
The risen Christ is not wandering.
He is seated in His throne!
“The LORD says to my Lord:
‘Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.’” — Psalm 110:1 (ESV)
“For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.” — 1 Corinthians 15:21 (ESV)
“For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.” — 1 Corinthians 15:25 (ESV)
Christ is not waiting to reign.
He is reigning now.
The resurrection was His vindication.
The ascension was His coronation.
“Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God…” — Acts 2:33 (ESV)
“God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name…” — Philippians 2:9 (ESV)
This is Easter:
The crucified One lives.
The risen One ascends.
The ascended One reigns.
Every enemy will fall.
Every knee will bow.
Death itself will be destroyed.
“The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” — 1 Corinthians 15:26 (ESV)
And when all is finished:
“Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father…” — 1 Corinthians 15:24 (ESV)
This is not weak hope.
This is reigning, conquering, unstoppable victory.
Christ is risen.
Christ is ascended.
Christ is seated.
And Christ is King!
