Tragic story and my heart goes out to the family!! I can't stress this enough, have your smoke detectors checked, and if you're unsure then call someone. We had a pellet stove chimney fire a few years back and caught it immediately before bedtime only because of the smell, no alarms. After that we installed a heat detector and multiple smoke detectors that were interlinked and talked to each other.

"In the two week
s between March 26 and April 9, four fires in homes without working smoke alarms claimed seven lives in Massachusetts, fire officials said.

All of the victims were over the age of 60.

Officials stressed every household should have working smoke alarms on every level of the home."

One person was killed and another person was hurt in an early-morning house fire in Hopkinton
