Growing up in Medford, my brother and I enjoyed the Medford Lakes community while riding bikes, exploring the lakes, fishing, and later on, partying at the Canoe Carnival with friends. The rich culture and history of Medford Lakes is unlike any other town in our area. When we weren’t exploring and enjoying the outdoors, we were learning the masonry trade working for our father and to this day, have ongoing work in Medford Lakes.
The flood of 2004 destroyed the iconic stone structure that welcomed everyone to Jackson Memorial Park. A piece of Medford Lakes’ rich history was seemingly washed away in the floodwaters— but the colony was determined to rebuild.
In the process of planning and rebuilding, the colony reached out to us to partake in the project. We felt honored to be asked to help with this piece and to build the two Jersey Sandstone columns. It was an absolute pleasure teaming up with the community members and other craftsmen to bring the colony’s vision to life. Our crew, including Sean, Margarito, Edgar, and Tanner worked with the Medford Lakes gang and had a blast completing the project. Everyone involved welcomed us and included my brother and I in the dedication ceremony.
We are grateful for this privilege and truly enjoyed every step
of the process. We are proud to create something for the great town of Medford Lakes that will withstand the test of time and will be enjoyed by families for years to come.
