🔧 The wrong lubricant can actually make your garage door noisier and attract dirt that grinds down moving parts. I've seen homeowners use WD-40, cooking oil, and even motor oil - none of which belong anywhere near a garage door.
You want a silicone-based or lithium-based spray lubricant. These don't attract dust, won't gum up in cold weather, and they stay put instead of dripping everywhere. Hit the rollers (not the tracks), hinges, springs, and the top of the chain or belt drive. 💡 Skip greasy products - they collect grime faster than our Tacoma rain collects in clogged gutters.
I recommend doing this twice a year, usually spring and fall. It takes about ten minutes and saves you from expensive repairs down the road. If your door's already squealing or sticking despite fresh lubricant, that's usually a sign something's worn out and needs replacing. 🛠
