CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR AUGUST -
Eddie Wood, Sheet Metal Installer...

Eddie Wood has been working on projects from one end of the Sound to the other - from Bremerton to Renton and even down into Fredrickson. With each location competing for his time and energy.

Eddie definitely has a full plate these days, working four projects all within the same time. Even with this workload Eddie took a few days away to jump in at our shop and help complete the fabrication of cages for the Service Projects team. His help ensured the cages were completed in time (minus some paint) and made the lift date for the project!

When he’s not going from job to job for ASEI, he spends his spare time doing various house and yard projects with his wife, Jackie.

Congratulations, Eddie, and thank you for all you do!

AUGUST SERVICE EMPLOYEES OF THE MONTH - Our Service Projects Team made up of Patrick Hamilton, Austin Reid, and Travis Shields...

At times, recognizing just one individual doesn't tell the whole story. This month, we are proud to recognize the entire service projects team for their outstanding commitment, teamwork, and resilience throughout one of the busiest summers in our company's history.

Over the past several months, our team has navigated significant changes and challenges while bringing together different groups, adapting to new processes, and establishing a new path forward. Change is never easy, especially during periods of high demand, yet this team embraced the challenge with professionalism and a positive attitude.

Throughout the transition, the Service Projects Team demonstrated what true teamwork looks like. They listened to one another, remained open to new ideas, supported their teammates, and adjusted when needed. Rather than focusing on obstacles, they focused on solutions. Rather than working as individuals, they came together as a unified team.

What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is that it occurred during our busiest overall summer to date. Despite the increased workload, tight schedules, and evolving responsibilities, the team continued to show up each day ready to collaborate, communicate, and do what was necessary to deliver the best possible outcomes for both our customers and one another.

The success we've experienced during this period is a direct reflection of the dedication, flexibility, and teamwork demonstrated by every member of the Service Projects Team. Their willingness to support each other, embrace new ways of working, and maintain a customer-first mindset has been instrumental in helping us move forward successfully.

Thank you to the entire Service Projects Team for your hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Your positive attitude and collective effort have set a tremendous example of what can be accomplished when a team works together toward a common goal.

TEAM BEHIND THE SCENES EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR AUGUST - Justin Riggins, Project Manager...

With Alex Crawford on paternity leave, Justin has picked up most of Alex’s construction projects and is managing them flawlessly.

Justin has really stepped up with project management duties ever since he made the transition from field to office. He does an excellent job of confronting problems head-on and pulling in whatever resources necessary to solve them.

In Justin’s spare time he enjoys spending time with his one-year-old son, Hudson.

Congratulations, Justin, and thank you for everything you do!

CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR JULY -
Marco Garay, Sheet Metal Installer...

Marco has been in the field with Air Systems Engineering for just over nineteen years now, bringing his dedication, humor, and care for the team to every project he sets foot on.

Recently, Marco’s been working multiple different job sites. He helped push the Embassy Suites project through completion and, along with John Llarenas, kept the Bliss and UFCW Hall jobs on schedule. He has now moved on to the Costco Woodinville remodel.

Marco’s energy, positive outlook, and fun-loving spirit carry over to not only the crew he works with but to the ASEI office personnel as well.

When not working, Marco enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, the youngest who recently started driving. Marco also keeps in touch with the group of guys he played football with in high school and just returned from their annual camping trip. (We can only imagine the stories!)

Congratulations, Marco! We appreciate your willingness to always jump in and your can-do approach to everything you do!

JULY SERVICE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - Nate Egnew, Service Technician...

Nate has stepped up in a big way over the past month, taking on several challenging situations with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Whether facing difficult service calls or new responsibilities, he has handled each opportunity professionally, embraced constructive feedback, and continued to grow from every experience.

This month, Nate also achieved an important professional milestone by earning his Fire and Smoke Damper Testing Certification. His commitment to expanding his knowledge and skillset strengthens our team and allows us to provide even more value to our customers.

Outside of work, Nate has had an exciting year as well! He recently celebrated his one-year anniversary with ASEI, has been busy working on his new home, and is currently planning his upcoming wedding. These are all exciting milestones that mark a new chapter in both his personal and professional life.

Congratulations, Nate! And thank you for your hard work, dedication, and willingness to take on new challenges. We appreciate everything you bring to the team and look forward to watching your continued success.

At Air Systems Engineering we have a very strong SAFETY culture. We continually promote and reward safe practices because it’s important for each of us to go home to our families at the end of our workday.

We were honored this morning to receive another award from AGC (Associated General Contractors of America) at their “2026 AGC Refund & Award Celebration” where we were recognized as a top performer at .60 EMR (Experience Modification Rate), and for achieving three consecutive years without a time-loss or impairment injury.

If you read our monthly newsletter, you know how much we focus on safety and how much this award means to us!

Thank you, AGC, for this honor and recognition!

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties held their Center for Community Impact (CCI) dinner at the Fircrest Golf Club last week. This event was a chance to celebrate and recognize young leaders, mentors, and community partners who are making a difference in their schools and communities, and Air Systems Engineering was honored to be a part of the evening.

CCI is the Y’s community outreach team. Partnering with local schools and organizations they work to provide critical social services, and outreach programs to vulnerable and underserved populations of youth and teens in our area. From meal programs to mentorship, leadership programs to juvenile justice – their services help ensure that everyone can flourish and reach their full potential. Just this year alone, CCI has helped more than 1,380 teens through these critical services.

Representing ASEI at the event were Mike Riggins, Mark and Susan Miller, Mary Munz, and Kevin and Stephanie Helling. Our partnership with the YMCA is meaningful to us and we are proud to contribute to such impactful programs.

Giving back to our community is especially important to Air Systems Engineering, and so we were honored to accept an invitation to attend The Tacoma Rescue Mission’s (TRM) “HopeGivers Celebration Dinner” held last month at Star Center in Tacoma.

This celebration dinner is an annual fundraising and community event hosted by nonprofit TRM to support its work with people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and poverty in Pierce County. The evening highlights stories of life change (often featuring testimonies from people who have been helped through TRM programs) and is a major annual-giving event that encourages donations, sponsorships, and ongoing support.

Tacoma Rescue Mission’s goal was to raise $220,000 however, the event brought in $264,300 displaying the generosity of our community to lift-up the lives of others.

In attendance to represent ASEI were Mike & Heather Riggins, Mark & Susan Miller, Amy Hamilton, Kevin & Stephanie Helling, and Mark & Lisa Casassa. We are proud of our partnership with TRM and our contribution to helping continue to support their work to change lives.

Air Systems Engineering was proud to help sponsor our friends at Goodwill for their “New Lives 2026 Event” last month.

Job skills are essential for success, yet many people in our community face barriers to obtaining the skills necessary for employment, such as poverty, disabilities, or lack of education. Goodwill’s “New Lives” funds programs that help people break through barriers so they can get jobs, start new careers, and build thriving livelihoods.

We are honored to be able to support Goodwill of Olympics & Rainier Region in their endeavor to bring hope, brighter futures, independence, and the confidence needed to change lives for those in our community.
