UP Community Garden - University Place, WA

UP Community Garden - University Place, WA The University Place Community Garden was planned and designed and land secured in 2011 with the University Place School District. UPCG became a 501c3 in 2018.

Tacoma Narrows Rotary was instrumental in its establishment. The University Place Community Garden came together in 2011 with a partnership between the Tacoma Narrows Rotary and the University Place School District. Situated next to Evergreen Primary School, the garden now provides the community over 70 raised beds, water, a tool shed, composting areas, soil amendments, herb and flower beds and a

pumpkin patch. The garden supports a diverse group of gardeners and also supports the Families Unlimited Network Food Bank in University Place. Over the past two years, the garden provided over 3,000 pound of produce to people in need.in alignment with our mission. We invite you to come out and visit the garden, rent a plot, join a work party, and help to Improve the health and well-being of our community one vegetable at a time.

Happy Earth Day!

One of the ways to contribute to a healthy and bountiful environment for our pollinators is to incorporate flowers into your garden space!

We have microplots, ADA plots, and 4X12 plots available to steward over 2024! Reach out to our membership team at [email protected] to learn more.

Special thanks to the Whole Foods Market Chambers Bay team and the Whole Cities grant for making it possible to reduce barriers to participation in community gardening with our new mico plots!

We'll have community garden members at the table in the store throughout the year, but you can stop by the table and grab a flyer or some information about the garden anytime.

Stay tuned to our Facebook for the announcement of when we'll be in Whole Foods next so you can stop by and chat!

The sun is out and things are shaping up at the University Place Community Garden!

In Issue 5 of our newsletter; we cover some best practices in planning for a successful season, tips about all those beautiful warm-weather plant babies popping up in the garden centers, and the gastropod extravaganza that is the month of April when it comes to garden pests.

It’s common in April in Washington State to experience a lot of rain and colder temperatures. Great for a host of plant families that really dig the chill and moisture, think most leafy greens and plants in the Brassica family.
