You will not remember what you planted unless you label it immediately after the seeds drop into the soil. I repeat, YOU WILL FORGET.

I keep a big box of wooden plant markers (from Johnny's Selected Seeds) and a permanent marker I use as my dibber right on my planting table. Not sure what a dibber is? Check out Seed Starting Tip #3.

Small seeds? TWEEZERS! Lots of our favorite fall greens have teeny tiny seeds. I keep a pair of tweezers in the greenhouse so I always have them when needed.

Don’t you dare start your seeds in dry, dusty soil. Hope y’all are enjoying the series so far. 😄

So far I’ve planted broccoli, collards, cilantro, kale, parsley, and tatsoi. Everything is indoors and under the grow lights until the temps cool down a bit. What seeds are you exciting about starting this Fall?

This is a great tip, under one condition. DO NOT GO BUY NEW PLASTIC to store your dirt. These totes are ALWAYS in neighborhood bulk pickup piles. If you aren’t able to be a roadside scavenger like me, look around for what you already have.
