Due to continued heavy rainfall, there is high water on some roadways across the City, including major thoroughfares like Broward Boulevard and Federal Highway near downtown.

City emergency management staff is actively monitoring the situation and deploying resources across the City.
High water vehicles are deployed strategically around the City and ready to respond as needed.
Avoid driving if possible. Never drive through high water.

Closures and Cancellations

City of Fort Lauderdale administrative offices are closed.
I-95 Southbound at Oakland Park Boulevard is closed.
All City board and committee meetings as well as Parks activities are cancelled for Wednesday, June 12.

Transportation and Parking

City garages are open for short term parking without charge through 5 p.m. Thursday, June 13. Find a list of public garages at https://www.fortlauderdale.gov/government/departments-i-z/transportation-and-mobility/parking-services/public-parking-garages-6941.

The Town of Davie is conducting an open call for ten artists interested in participating in the Painted Horses public art project. Applications will be accepted now through July 5, 2024, by midnight. The artists selected will be chosen to design and fabricate a painted design on a fiberglass horse sculpture.

The artwork should reflect the theme “Historical Cultures of Davie”. The primary focus areas for the artwork should include, but not be limited to, areas of farming and fruit groves, education, cowboys and rodeo, flora and fauna, and Native American tribes. Each artist selected will be compensated $2,000 for completing their painted horse.

Requirements:
• Professional and amateur artists residing in Broward County are eligible to apply.
• Artists may be skilled in any art medium, i.e., acrylic, oil, or gouache. All paint must be UV resistant and applied to the finished product.
• Artwork must be original in concept, design, and ex*****on and of the artists’ own creation.
• Logos or words cannot be used in the design.
• Utilize the supplied template to submit a design.
• Artists can submit up to three designs.

To apply, artists must complete the registration form to be considered for the program www.davie-fl.gov/PaintedHorsesArt.

The Public Art Project aims to add a creative touch by displaying Davie’s equestrian heritage through painted fiberglass horse sculptures across Town parks and facilities. This beautification effort will enhance the experience for visitors and residents alike.

The Town of Davie Public Art Advisory Committee will serve as the selection committee to recommend proposed artwork for Town Council approval. The Town will select one design from each artist.
