The beloved poinsettias that are used for holiday decorations (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are from Mexico, but we have a few other species native to the southern states. This one is known as wild poinsettia (Euphorbia cyathophora). The flowers are the tiny yellow things in the center; the red parts are colored bracts (which is also true for the showier holiday species).
