Well September is nearing its end but I wanted to share this wonderful article from IFAS! If you are not familiar with IFAS it is an Extension Program from the University of Florida! I have taken many classes withing the program and they are all super in-depth and its a great way to learn from the pros at U.F. and meet like minded people in the community! I have made life long friends from within these classes and it is a great program to check out! You can contact the Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach for more info!
With October we prepare for the arrival of our Northern friends that come here to escape the cold and harsh winters of the North. Personally I kind of miss the winter and I hope I am able to take a trip up North or out West to get in some Snow Boarding this year!
In the planting world this is the time to get ready to plant Flowers! Lots and lots of Flowers! In October our night time lows drop into the 60's and our daytime highs slip into the low 80's! This is perfect weather for all of the Northern Annual Plants! We also lose much of the UV from the sun as the Sun rises in the South East in the winter season! This makes for nice cool evenings and warm afternoons. It is the weather that Florida is famous for and I am not sure about you guys but I am ready for some cool nights and a nice bonfire!
As far as your Annual Plantings go, I ask that you please take a look at some of the pictures I have posted in the gallery and as the month moves on I will post at least 5 new Annuals each week and explain each one highlighting what they are and where they belong in the landscape! I am really exited to get everything back in gear and start designing some landscapes! I take great pride in my design work with Annuals! I study the beds at Disney every time I go and when I can't go I look online! They do such an amazing job and this is where I get much of my influence from! I like adding my own personal touch and style but the beds in Disney are nothing short of amazing and if you invite me out to your home to take a look at your beds, I can make them equally amazing!
One of the things I spent a lot of time learning last year was Drip Irrigation and how I can utilize it in Annual Beds but specifically pots. This allows an irrigation system to send the perfect amount of water, directly to pots that have flowers and the likes. It not only automates the process but it delivers the perfect amount of water to the flowers imitating what they get in the nursery. I plan every single detail out for certain flowers I use a small spray head or even a mist or fog. For larger plants and palms, I use a drip head that I can control down to how many gallons will be distributed on an hourly basis!
The end result is beautiful pots and lots of compliments from neighbors! It takes the task out of watering and now you will never have to remember to water the flowers! If you are interested, I would love to chat!
If you are a new client, please note that I do offer a free one hour consultation that gives me time to take pictures of your existing landscape, hear your ideas and then provide my feedback and determine if a drawing or plan is needed for the project!
Cheers!
