The skilled labor shortage won’t be solved by recruiting alone. We have to build more skilled workers. That’s why this announcement from Steel River Foundry caught our attention.
Steel River just launched Steel River Foundry, bringing more than 40 industrial training programs together under one national brand — covering areas like crane operations, rigging, industrial electrical systems, hydraulics, mechanical maintenance, equipment inspection and safety.
The reason behind the investment says a lot about where the industrial workforce is headed: 79% of manufacturing leaders say the skilled labor shortage is their #1 challenge.
At ABLEMKR, we see the same challenge across construction, manufacturing, energy and other industrial markets. There simply aren't enough qualified people entering the skilled trades to meet demand.
Solving that requires an entire workforce ecosystem:
→ Introduce more people to skilled-trades careers
→ Give workers accessible training and certification paths
→ Help experienced workers continually upskill
→ Connect qualified workers with employers that need their skills
→ Create career paths that keep great people in the trades
Companies like Steel River are investing in the training side of that equation. At ABLEMKR, we're focused on the connection between skilled workers and the companies that need them.
The future of industrial workforce development isn't just about filling today's open jobs. It's about building tomorrow's skilled workforce. Great to see more investment going into that mission.
