In the roofing industry, competition can be fierce, but I believe small businesses should lift each other up. Over the years at Barr Roofing Co, I’ve had plenty of people say, “Let me know if you need anything.” But there’s one guy who truly means it every time—Robbie.

No matter when I call, he’s willing to help. That says a lot in an industry that can be cutthroat. I genuinely believe Robbie’s heart is in the right place when it comes to serving the Texarkana community and their roofing needs.

I had an iPad Pro with a jammed power button after it was dropped. I took it to another local shop, but they refused to work on it. Then I went to Best Buy, where I was told my only option was to replace it with a $500 refurbished iPad Pro.

Finally, I brought it to MTECH and met the owner—believe his name was Scott. He took the time to listen, understand the issue, and decided to take a quick look at the power button. After just about 10 minutes in his shop, I walked out with a fully functioning iPad.

From one local business owner to another: thank you for taking the time to diagnose the problem and provide a real solution. MTECH is now my first stop for all things electronics. Supporting local truly matters!

Reposting this as we approach three years since it was last shared—because I think it’s important to remember where we came from and how it all started.

When my dad, Burns Barr, founded Barr Door Co., I was just a kid. But the work ethic my parents lived by is deeply rooted in me. My brother and I spent countless nights sleeping at Barr Door while our parents worked through the night—providing for our family and delivering quality to their customers.

I wasn’t the one carrying doors on my shoulders, but I watched what true hard work and dedication looked like.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for showing me what sacrifice and commitment mean—for putting in the long hours, sometimes at the cost of your own health, to take care of us. Your example shaped me.

Today, that same dedication lives on. Barr Roofing Co is now in its third year. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned that anything worth having is worth working hard for.

Here’s to the journey—past, present, and future.

The photos I shared a few days ago show what’s known as “racking.” This method isn’t recommended for shingle installations—especially when using architectural (laminate) shingles.

Can you spot the install defect on these shingles? Comment your guess below!

Both have the same issue — and it could be a big one. This mistake can lead to leaks, early roof failure, and even void the manufacturer warranty.

HINT: Some roofers use this method to save time. Thats why when I hear people say “they finished my roof by noon” isn’t always a good thing!

It all comes down to proper alignment and nailing.

I found both of these on the same day during roof inspections.
