In short:
🚫 No, we do not perform mold testing.

Here’s why:

Mold testing and mold remediation require separate licensing in the State of Texas in order to avoid conflicts of interest. Independent testing helps ensure unbiased results and gives homeowners confidence in the process.

✅ What we do specialize in:
• Professional mold remediation
• Containment and removal
• Moisture control and drying
• Helping create a healthier indoor environment

We can recommend the best Mold testers (MAC's) in the business though!

If you suspect mold, we’re happy to guide you through the next steps and work alongside independent testing professionals when needed.

Rumor has it, rain might crash the party in the next few days. We'll believe it when we see it, but being prepared is like having a superhero cape.
1. Clear those gutters, don't let them become water parks - let's keep them for the kids
2. Trim those branches, we don't want any surprise roof guests.
3. Give your roof a quick once-over, make sure it's not hiding any secrets.
4. Last but not least, save 832 699 4267 in your phone, because when things get wet, we'll be there in a flash to save the day.

Today is the turn of the Remediation Company

MRC - Mold Remediation Contractor
This is the person who is responsible to perform the mold remediation.
A Work Plan should be created and discussed with the property owner before commencement. This plan is based off the MAC supplied protocol.
The remediation should follow a standard procedure as documented in the Work Plan.
Contents/Containment/Equipment/Demo/Cleaning/treatment and finally Air Scrubbing. Once the clearance test has been passed (performed by the MAC) the MRC is the only person legally able to issue the Clearance Certificate. This will be signed by both the MRC and the MAC.

This topic covers the Mold Inspector;

MAC - Mold Assessor Consultant. This is the inspector who has the license to come to the property and perform the inspection and take samples. Sometimes this can be delegated to the MAT. However, Only the MAC can interpret the lab results and inspection results. They then create a report, and if mold positive, a protocol. This is then supplied to the property owner and explained fully by the MAC.
The Protocol is forwarded onto the Remediation company who perform the work. Once completed, the MAC performs a clearance test to confirm the presence of mold has been removed. They sign a clearance certificate (CDMR) issued by the Remediation company.

MAT - Mold Assessor Technician. Usually employed by the MAC and carries out the inspection and sampling in the property. These results are then supplied to the MAC to create the report and Protocol if required. They are not licensed to interperate the results and advise if mold is present or not.

There has been a lot of chatter on social media recently about Mold testing. So this week we would like to explain the rules and roles in Texas.
Mold Testing and Remediation are regulated by the TDLR (Texas Dept of Licensing and Regulation)
Today is License types:
MAT - Mold Assessment Technician: usually employed by a MAC. Only one allowed per MAC

MAC - Mold Assessor Consultant: Allowed to create the Report . Interpret the Lab results, write the Protocol and carry out clearance tests. Signs the CDMR

MRC - Mold Remediation Contractor: Writes the Work Plan from the protocol and carries out the work to the specified Protocol and State standards. Creates and signs the CDMR

MRW - Mold Remediation Worker: Carries out the remediation work under he supervision of the MRC. Only one allowed per MRC

RCO - Mold Remediation Company. Can be either MAC or MRC. This allows the company to have more than one licensed employee (MRW or MAT)

5. Ultra Violet Light with Target Plate
The last in our series of Mold Remediation, the final commonly used technology for continued mold remediation.
Similar to ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) cleaners that use ultraviolet radiation from UV lamps may destroy pollutants such as viruses, bacteria, and some molds that are growing on the moist interiors of HVAC surfaces). But this is more focused energy. Similar to standard UVGI but with higher safety precautions required. Not to be viewed without UV goggles, harmful to skin and pets, May produce excessive Ozone. Not recommended for residential use.

4. Ultra Violet light

A passive solution, ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) cleaners that use ultraviolet radiation from UV lamps may destroy pollutants such as viruses, bacteria, and some molds that are growing on the moist interiors of HVAC surfaces). But typical UVGI cleaners used in homes have limited effectiveness in killing bacteria and molds. The Mold spores need to travel VERY close to the light for the be effective.
Furthermore, dead mold spores can still produce allergic reactions, so UVGI cleaners may not be effective in reducing allergy and asthma symptoms. As part of an HVAC solution they have their place, but it should be regarded as complimentary technology rather than a full solution.
We use Air Scrubbers which incorporate UV lights, this provides a better cleaning process for your projects.

3. Ozone Generators
Ozone Generators are highly reactive oxidizing tools which are often touted for use on Mold Remediation.
They work in a similar active method as the Air Ionizers, by killing all bacteria and mold spores. Generally used in Fire Remediation to remove smoke odors. It is excellent at removing the musty mold odors.
This technology is NOT EPA approved for mold removal
The down sides to this method are:
• Harmful to humans and pets
• Can damage fabrics and soft furnishings
• Hypha and toxins remain in the building

Ok as part of a mold removal program, but should only ever be used as a step in the process, as due to the dangers, only by professionals.

2. Ionizers
Ionizers work by emitting charge ions (usually negative charge) and "spray" these into the atmosphere. This is an active method as it pushed the charged ions to "bump into" the mold spores.
These ions stick to the mold spores and make them too heavy to float, so the drop to the nearest surface. There is no way for the ionizer to remove the spores, so they have to be collected via another method (example - Air scrubber)
Bipolar Ionization is another ionization method. Sometimes called needlepoint ionization. these are almost exclusively used and installed in HVAC systems. They kill the molds spores by robbing them of Hydrogen while also performing the clumping effect.
This method is more effective than standard ionization, but still does not give a complete solution as the spores are still not removed. It also does not address the source issue.
