🌱 Noticing sporadic blades of your grass turning yellow? It might not be a lack of water—it could actually be too much!

With all the recent rain, overwatering can suffocate your lawn’s roots, preventing them from getting the oxygen they need. The result? Yellowing, stressed grass that looks worse instead of better.

💧 Signs of overwatering:
• Yellow or pale grass
• Soft, spongy soil
• Mushrooms or algae growth
• Water pooling or thatch buildup

✅ What you can do:
• Let your lawn dry out before turning your sprinkler system back on after rainfall
• Hold off on watering unless you see signs of drought
• Improve drainage in problem areas

At Healthy Turf, we’re more than just a lawn care company — we’re a local family on a mission 🌱

We believe your lawn should be a place where kids can play, pets can roam, and you can relax… without worrying about harmful chemicals.

That’s why we focus on:
✔️ Natural turf nutrition, free of harmful chemicals
✔️ Aeration to bring life back to your soil
✔️ Top dressing to strengthen and enrich your lawn from the ground up

Because the truth is — a greener, thicker, more vibrant lawn doesn’t start with chemicals… it starts with healthy soil.

Our approach helps:
🌿 Improve soil health naturally
💧 Protect our local water systems
🐾 Keep your yard safe for kids and animals

We’re proud to serve our community with solutions that are better for your lawn, better for your family, and better for our green community and its occupants 🦆

Most people think their St. Augustine grass is the problem… but 9 times out of 10, it’s actually the soil underneath it.

St. Augustine is a strong, resilient grass—but it struggles when the soil is compacted, depleted, or lacking the nutrients and biology it needs to thrive.

When that happens, you start to see:
- Thin or patchy areas
- Yellowing or dull color
- Poor growth, even with watering and fertilizing

🌱 The fix isn’t more chemicals—it’s better soil.

That’s where aeration and top dressing come in:

Aeration: We pull cores from the lawn to relieve compaction, allowing air, water, and nutrients to actually reach the root zone. This is HUGE for St. Augustine, which needs room to spread and thicken.

Top Dressing with Humate Pellets: Instead of messy, traditional top dressing, we use humate-rich pellets that feed beneficial soil microbes, improve nutrient absorption and enhance root development.

The result?
✔ Thicker, greener grass
✔ Stronger root system
✔ Better drought resistance
✔ A lawn that actually sustains itself

If your lawn isn’t performing the way it should this spring, don’t just treat the grass—fix the foundation.

📅 We’re booking April appointments now—prime time to aerate and top dress for a healthier, fuller lawn heading into summer.

Spring is the best time to aerate your lawn because it helps break up compacted soil right as your grass is coming out of dormancy and entering its strongest growing season.

When paired with our humate pellet top dress, your lawn gets even more benefit—improved soil health, better nutrient uptake, stronger root development, and a greener, fuller yard without the mess of traditional top dressing.

We’re booking April appointments for aeration and humate pellet top dressing. Get on the schedule now to help your lawn thrive this spring.🌱🌷

Most lawn programs focus on dumping fertilizer on your grass.

At Healthy Turf, we focus on feeding the soil first — because healthy soil grows healthy grass.

That’s why we use humate + seaweed turf nutrition and humate pellet top dressing instead of messy sand or compost.

🌱 Seaweed provides natural growth hormones that stimulate stronger roots and greener grass.
🌱 Humate feeds beneficial soil microbes and improves soil health naturally.
🌱 Humate pellets improve soil structure, water retention, and help your lawn hold nutrients longer.

Each pellet becomes a little hub of microbial activity, improving your soil over time — which means thicker, healthier turf.

Better soil = better grass.

If your St. Augustine lawn has areas that need to be re-sodded, one of the best things you can do before laying new sod is aerate the soil.

Here’s why we always recommend it at Healthy Turf:
1️⃣ It relieves soil compaction
Over time, soil becomes compacted from foot traffic, mowing, and heavy clay soils (very common here). Aeration opens up the soil so new roots can actually grow down into it instead of struggling on the surface.
2️⃣ It improves root establishment
New sod needs strong root contact with the soil beneath it. Aeration creates pockets where roots can quickly grow, helping the sod establish faster and healthier.
3️⃣ It improves water and nutrient absorption
Aeration allows water, oxygen, and nutrients to move deeper into the soil profile—exactly where your new grass needs them.
4️⃣ It leads to a stronger lawn long-term
Skipping this step can lead to shallow roots and patchy growth. Aerating first gives your new St. Augustine the best possible foundation.

At Healthy Turf, we typically follow aeration with our granular humate top dress and natural turf nutrition to help rebuild soil health while the new sod establishes.

If you’re planning to re-sod this season, make sure the soil underneath is ready first.

🌿 Healthy soil = healthy grass.

🌱 Healthy Turf Turns 2! 🌱🎂

This month marks two years of Healthy Turf, and we are beyond grateful.

We truly wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of family, friends, neighbors, and customers who trusted us to care for their lawns. What started as an idea has grown into something really special because of this community.

From day one, our goal has been simple: provide a unique, environmentally friendly lawn service with honest hard work and great customer service that gives our community healtheir, greener lawns.

Along the way, we’ve learned a lot about running a business — but more than anything, we’ve learned just how many wonderful people live in this community and how lucky we are to call this place home.

Thank you for supporting a local, family-run business.

Here’s to many more years of keeping The Woodlands greener, chemical-free, and friendly. 🌿

🚨 4 Ways Your Lawn Crew Might Be Ruining Your Lawn 🚨(And most homeowners don’t even realize it 👀)

Not all lawn care is good lawn care. If your grass is thinning, patchy, or constantly stressed, one of these could be the reason:

🌱 1. Cutting Grass Too Short (Especially St. Augustine!)
St. Augustine should be cut high, not scalped. Cutting it too short weakens roots, invites weeds, and stresses the turf—especially in Texas heat.

🔄 2. Never Changing the Mowing Pattern
Same direction every week = compacted soil and visible ruts. Changing patterns helps grass grow upright and healthier over time.

📆 3. Mowing Too Frequently
Grass needs time to recover. Cutting too often doesn’t let roots strengthen and can lead to shallow, weak turf that struggles in summer.

🦠 4. Dirty Equipment Spreading Disease
This one’s big. Mowers used on lawns with fungus or disease must be cleaned. If not, problems spread from yard to yard like wildfire.

✔ Proper mowing height
✔ Smarter schedules
✔ Soil-first approach
✔ Chemical-free nutrition

Though we don’t offer these services, these are things that contribute to an overall healthier lawn.
