No need to irrigate this week! We hope each and every one of you have a safe and happy transition in to the new year!
From the WJPA email for the week of 12/24/18 - 12/30/18:
More than enough rain coming this week! NO IRRIGATION RECOMMENDED.
Remember, St. Augustine grass is a warm-season grass. It goes dormant in the fall. Please turn off your automatic sprinkler controller and operate manually if and when your turf needs water. Generally we receive enough rain during the colder months to adequately supply the water needs of dormant turf grass.
This is a recommendation only. It is intended to reduce waste of our vital water supply and is based on several rain gauges placed throughout The Woodlands and evaporation data provided by Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District. We understand that rainfall events vary across The Woodlands and suggest installing a gauge at your home to accurately measure your rainfall. The decision to irrigate is at the discretion of our residents. However, the Defined Irrigation Schedule is still in effect, and residents who choose to irrigate should do so according to the DIS.
