Amen Builders Construction noticed that my cousin Cathy needed her treated-lumber handrails replaced, so we reached out and found a time that worked for both of our busy schedules. Great communication made the process easy!

We carefully removed the old handrails without damaging them and installed these beautiful new black iron handrails.

Every project has a story, and this one is about much more than installing trim.

This homeowner reached out to Amen Builders Construction because hurricane season was approaching, and she wanted her back French doors ready before the next storm.

After Hurricane Ida, she spent nearly two years living in a camper while her home was completely gutted and rebuilt. Understandably, the thought of another hurricane brought back a lot of concern. She wanted to know her home would be ready if severe weather threatened South Louisiana again.

Our first step was protecting the opening properly. Before any trim was installed, we applied Pro-Grade flashing tape around the door to help create a better weather barrier.

From there, we installed primed A-grade wood plinth blocks, decorative rosette blocks, and fluted casing, then sealed all joints with high-quality exterior caulk for a clean, finished appearance.

While discussing the project, the customer said that the French doors were out of alignment. The doors had to be forced shut every time they were closed. We adjusted and realigned the doors so they now open and close smoothly, eliminating the need to force them shut.

To help prepare her home for hurricane season, we also installed the mounting brackets for her hurricane shutters, allowing her to quickly secure her home whenever a storm is in the forecast.

The best part of the day wasn’t seeing the finished job—it was seeing the smile on our customer’s face and knowing she left with something far more valuable than a beautiful doorway: PEACE OF MIND.

One day this little boy will be taller than this ruler, but his mom will always be able to look back and remember exactly how fast he grew.

One of the things I enjoy most about woodworking is creating something that becomes part of a family’s memories. This custom growth chart was built for a friend so she can track her son’s height year after year and cherish those moments as he grows.

Whether I’m remodeling a home, building custom cabinets, or creating a unique piece like this, I truly enjoy helping bring someone’s vision to life. There’s something special about starting with a simple idea and turning it into something that will be enjoyed for years to come.

This piece features a truck design, but it doesn’t have to be a truck. I can customize these with tractors, boats, hunting and fishing themes, sports, construction equipment, animals, princess themes, or just about any design you can imagine.

Each growth chart is handcrafted and personalized, typically taking 3–4 days to complete.
