❌ MYTH: If concrete cracks, it means it was poured wrong.

✅ FACT: All concrete has the potential to crack. As concrete cures, it shrinks and moves with changes in temperature and the ground underneath it.

That’s why proper ground prep, reinforcement, concrete thickness, and control joints matter. Control joints are intentionally placed to help encourage cracking to happen where it’s planned instead of randomly across your slab.

Good concrete work isn’t about pretending concrete will never move. It’s about doing the prep and details right from the beginning.

If you see us out pouring concrete at 4:30 in the morning, there’s a reason 😂

Today we are doing a really cool pour for the Cowboy Church tanks to Pastor TC Perkins.

With this Oklahoma heat, we have to get started early. Once it gets up over 100° outside, concrete starts setting up a lot faster and the water can evaporate out of it too quickly. That makes it harder to work with and can cause cracking and other problems later on.

Getting started before the sun comes up gives us time to get it poured and finished before the worst of the heat hits. It also keeps the guys from having to be out there pouring in a 105° afternoon.

Definitely not fun hearing that alarm go off that early, but you gotta beat the heat and get it done right. 👍🏼
