🔧 What’s a P-Trap—and what does it actually do?

That curved pipe underneath your sink isn’t just there for looks! A P-trap holds a small amount of water that creates a seal between your home and the sewer system.

It has a few important jobs:

💨 Blocks sewer gases from coming back up through your drain and into your home.

💧 Refreshes itself every time you use the sink or shower, replacing the water sitting in the trap.

💍 Catches debris (and sometimes valuables!) like rings, earrings, coins and other items before they travel farther down your plumbing system.
