We're showing some progress on our Sanford project, despite the 2-3 days of rain per week. The first block wall is complete, which will be the extension of an existing patio. We're backfilling the wall with 57 stone aggregate, and tying the wall into the existing concrete slab with 1/2 inch rebar. I'll weld the vertical bar that's coming up from inside the block wall to the horizontal tie bars before we start pouring our 4 inch slab. We also ordered our 1400 square feet of full color dimensional bluestone and 300 square feet of natural stone veneer today. Delivery is set for this Thursday. It's been a slow start due to inclement weather, but the ball is finally rolling on this one. After almost 35 years in the business, I still get excited when a big project starts to take shape. Today we are setting up shop in the Carolina Lakes community in Sanford, NC. We will be working on this private residence with lake access for the next few months. The porch and roof will be extended 6 feet out, and to the full length of the house. There will be an in ground pool installed as well. The project will include 2 large patios, multiple retaining walls, an outdoor kitchen, outdoor fireplace, and many extras. The work will progress in stages, and we will be working in conjunction with other contractors. But we will be handling all of the masonry and stone work, and will have the majority say in the overall design. I am very excited about every aspect of this massive project, and cannot wait to present the final product to the clients. Mike is a recently retired Army specialist, and his wife is still active in the US Army. So needless to say, this one will be from the heart. But today, we dig.

Today we revisited this project from 2019 for some routine maintenance. There were a couple of areas that needed some minor resetting due to settling, and it was long overdue for a power washing and reapplication of polymeric sand. Kudos to Belgard for manufacturing a truly superior product. 6 years later, it looks as good as the day we finished installing it.

Jon, the client, is a retired member of New York's finest. We also built the patio at his previous residence in Apex a few years ago. It's always a pleasure to get a call from a repeat customer, as well as a man who has dedicated his life to public service and protection. Thank you Jon, and enjoy your new backyard living space.

I've had a few friends and clients ask for some progress pictures of one of my projects, so here you go. This one is in Holly Springs and includes a retaining/sitting wall, patio, fire pit and incorporated low voltage lighting. The process is meticulous, but seldom pretty. I hope to follow up with some pictures of the finished product next week, weather permitting of course. It's been a long winter, but it looks like we're going to have a great year. I hope to see you all along the way. Happy Spring... finally!

It feels good doing flat work again, but this heat is brutal. We're using a natural bluestone tumbled paver as a border, and bluestone capping on the sitting wall for this one. I usually don't use natural stone with concrete pavers, but I think Belgard's Weston wall and Dublin cobble might just be the exception.
