Wife wanted a new countertop for the island at the cottage so that's what she got. Left a few imperfections for character but not distressed. This is 1&1/2" solid ash that is 5'x8&1/2'.

Been a while since I've posted, just too many things to keep up on. Here is a sign I did for the Horseheads Senior Prom. I had some help from one of my regulars that can't seem to get enough of the old wood shop. Thanks for the help and input Gage!

My class did a little something for our district. Congrats class!!

Earlier this year, fourth-grader Lily wrote a letter to Mr. Patterson asking if the school could have buddy benches outside. Mr. Patterson thought that was a great idea and was so proud of Lily for taking the time to write a wonderful letter. Today, those benches are a reality, thanks to our generous PTO and the students in Mr. Brightman's Cabinetmaking Class at the High School. Students will learn more about the buddy benches and what they're for next week on the WGRN News. Great job, Lily! And thank you, High School students and GRPTO!

Got a few projects going on in class.

1st and 2nd photos are of a passive solar hot air heater. Still has a few steps to go but making some progress.

3rd picture is of the framed in tongue and groove floor of an elevated hunting blind. Quite a bit still to finish here but it's looking great.

Students are working very hard and doing a great job!

Haven't posted in a little while. Been busy with the ole honey-do list working on our 2nd fixer upper. I've attached some pictures of the work. Initially we weren't going to go as big with the deck bit very happy we did. We also wrapped the front with foam board before putting up the siding. The front and back take the most weather so it was nice to get those re-sided.

The giant hole is where the siding started to rot when the previous owners didn't flash in the door. You can see my band aid fix but it was too late. I need to replace the sill sheathing and all studs associated.

Lastly I attached the view.

I can't believe I forgot about this little gem. Here is a tub shelf that I made the wife for mother's day. She loves being able to sit back and relax while having a place to set her wine. The one pictured is burnt wood finish but can be built and finished to any liking. Feel free to reach out for prices.

As one of the most bizarre school years is coming to a close I find myself ready to enjoy some time on the lake maybe with a few quick projects here and there. One thing I managed to do is get our deck finished a little earlier than expected so I guess I'll need to sit back and enjoy the view.

So our floors in our downstairs were stained using a 100% natural stain. It is a mixture of black tea and vinegar. Here is a video of the process it was 2 coats of black tea and 1 coat of steel wool and vinegar mixture. The initial coloring seems much lighter than the rest of the floor but once the vinegar mixture reacts with the tannin in the wood it turns to a blackish stain. All woods react different to the mixture and the mixture can be changed to get a little different color.

Been a little while since I've posted. Not a lot of woodworking projects lately but built a small surround for tub to hide plumbing. Also started to plumb in the black pipe faucet set.

A little sneak peak of a future project post.

More to come!

This quarantine has got me doing house projects like whoa! Got part of the siding done on one side of the house.
