A Little Lawn Care Knowledge Goes A Long Way!

If your mower blades are not sharp they will not cut your lawn very well. They will rip and tear your grass as supposed to cutting it. You may not noticed at first but within a day or two your lawn will appear brown and dying at the tips.

To prevent this and have a greener lusher looking lawn keep your blades sharp and mow on a schedule and water 1-3 times a week if mother nature doesn't provide us with rain.

Picture for example.

A Little Lawn Care Knowledge Goes A Long Way!

Cleaning grass clippings from your mower deck on a regular basis helps reduce buildup of grass inside your deck, and helps prevent premature wear and tear on you mower components like belts, spindles, and blades.

Also the "washout ports" on your mower deck that you connect a hose to and run water through while you deck is running do not clean out your deck as well as you may think. Especially if you have mowed wet/damp grass that is already glued to the inside of your deck.

I'm going to try and get an edge on these blades to get by until the new blades come in, but they are definitely in need of replacement!

A Little Lawn Care Knowledge Goes a Long Way!

Did you know that cutting your grass too short can actually make your lawn less healthy?

Leaving grass a little taller helps it develop deeper roots, hold moisture longer, and shade the soil. That shade can also make it harder for some weeds to get established.

During hot, dry weather, raising your mower height can be especially helpful. Taller grass provides more protection from the heat and reduces stress on your lawn.

Another helpful tip: avoid removing more than ⅓ of the grass blade at one mowing. Taking off too much at once can stress the plant and leave your lawn looking thin or brown.

Healthy grass starts from the roots—and sometimes, mowing a little higher is one of the simplest things you can do to help!

Today is the big day. Stop out and see all the vendors and what they have to offer

Folks, tomorrow is the big day! Our first lineup is incredible. The vendors noted in purple will have food; early season produce, packaged beef, vegetable seedlings, baked goods, candy, etc. The vendors noted in black have a huge variety of hand crafted gifts; soap, crochet, tumblers, woodworking, henna art, candles, memorial flowers, houseplants, etc.

As always, it's necessary to point out that this is May in Michigan. We will not have warm weather produce until the end of June. We do no allow vendors that buy produce at an auction and resell it to you. We want "grown local" to be a thing, and to connect you with the person that raises the best food for your family.

Daniel and Kathryn are planning to start attending next weekend. I believe he will have eggs available at the market this week, however.

We're so excited to see you tomorrow! (There could be rain in the afternoon, so please consider attending as early as possible. 9am is the start time!)
