My name is Michael Clay and I am a second generation plumber. I grew up in New Orleans helping my dad’s plumbing company during school holidays and summers. My dad says I knew the difference between a flathead and Phillips head screwdriver when I was 2. I was changing toilet seats when I was 6 and I helping run gas lines by the time I was 12. During high school and college I started learning how to solder copper pipes and cut and glue PVC pipe. I received my college degree in Construction Management from LSU in 2006. After graduation I started working for my dad full time in New Orleans which had just been hit by Hurricane Katrina. This allowed me to get experience in different areas of plumbing in a short amount of time. We did service work, repairs, remodels, and new construction in all types of residential housing. I was able to pass my journeymen test and received my first license in 2008. I married my wife Brandi in 2010 and we had Michael ClayJr. in May 2012. I passed the Master Plumber test in 2014, but kept in inactive in order to keep working for my dad. In 2016 I decided to leave plumbing after 10 years full time in the trade and start trying to use my degree. Brandi and I moved to Baton Rouge in the summer of 2016, we had our 2nd son Patrick and I started working as a superintendent for a General Contractor in commercial construction. I was still doing small side plumbing jobs because plumbing, helping people, and problem solving are my passions. We had our 3rd son James in 2018. In 2024 I self contracted the building of our current home as well as doing all the plumbing and gas work for it. After moving in my wife got pregnant with our 4th son Alex. In June of this year, I had another door close on me in the construction management field, and I took this as a sign from God that I needed to go back to my passions and start my own plumbing company.
