We appreciate the amazing support the community has shown our locally owned and operated, small family business over the years, and we want to return the favor by offering a few tips to help Tangi residents get through this upcoming freeze without pipe damage.

The most effective way to keep your pipes from freezing is to keep water moving. Not just at night, but until temperatures go above freezing. Just a small trickle of warm water will do. Use both hot and cold for dual handle faucets.

Wrapping pipes will protect them for about 6 hours. This morning's Tangi Alerts Newsletter predicted 46 hours of below, or right at, freezing temperatures.

Make sure all exterior faucets are off and hoses are drained. If you have a pool, leave your pool filter running.

Wait to run your dishwasher, washer, and/or dryer at night when the temperatures are at their lowest. This will help warm all the surrounding pipes and keeps your house a bit warmer.

Know where your house water shut off valves are located. If a pipe bursts, shut off the valve running to the burst. Once temperatures rise and things defrost, the water will leak through cracks or bursts until the pipe is fixed, especially from the city main to the house line, unless the water is shut off to the entire home. House to main line repairs often include digging, can be expensive, and the water company will hold you responsible for water usage, which will show up on your water bill.

If you smell gas, TURN OFF THE GAS VALVE IMMEDIATELY, leave the area, and air out the area. If you feel dizzy or nauseous, seek medical assistance.

We will be closed December 24th-26th, but have left scheduling spaces open in preparation to take calls specifically for any damage that the upcoming freeze may bring. We know the package of baby wipes say "flushable," but they are lying to you.
Just a few of the other items on the "not safe to flush" list are as follows: Legos, medicine bottles, kitchen paper towels, blue shop towels, Elsa's head, Happy meal toys, especially the baby Groot, Band-Aids, medical tape, gauze, Matchbox cars, plastic bags, Ziplock bags, dryer sheets, Q-Tips, painter's tape, jigsaw puzzle pieces, leftover powdered quikrete, aquarium rocks, and bagged up dog p**p.
