Good reminder! We see issues with this all the time

Information is going out to residents this week about keeping “flushable” wipes out of the toilet and sewers.

They may say “flushable,” but most wipes don’t break down the same way toilet paper does, and can get caught on other items, leading to sewer backups. The same is true of cotton swabs, dental floss, diapers, and anything else that gets used in the bathroom.

Remember that your toilet is not a trash can and should only be used for the three Ps: pee, poop and (toilet) paper!

For residents in and around the area of S Sandusky St, Ella St, and S River Rd, be aware of a potential chemical odor from your sewer if your plumbing traps are not properly filled. Residents within the project area have been notified by a door hanger, but the odor has traveled further than the project limits (most noticeably on Cottage Ave). Work will continue on Monday and Tuesday along the western half of Ella St, so please fill your traps with water to prevent the smell from entering your home.
