⚜️There’s a lot of noise online about spray foam roofing.

Let’s clear it up.

Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) roofing is a nationally recognized commercial roofing system. It is supported and referenced by organizations such as:
• National Roofing Contractors Association
• Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance
• International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants
• U.S. Green Building Council

It is included in federal specifications and ASTM standards used across the country.

The US government uses spray foam roofing on many projects

This is not a fringe system.
It’s not experimental.
And it’s not new.

It’s been installed successfully for decades.
Long before TPO

So why the criticism?

Usually because many contractors don’t install it. They don’t have the equipment and dont take training.
And like anything in construction, if it’s installed incorrectly, it can fail.

But that’s true of every roofing system.

A bad contractor can ruin single-ply.
A bad contractor can ruin metal.
A bad contractor can ruin built-up roofing.
And yes — a bad contractor can ruin spray foam.

The system matters.

This was a job that we had many concerns with. First off was the appearance. Sometimes spray foam doesn’t look the best when applied to a vertical wall. Also this building is over 100 years old and once it’s done there is no going back. And lastly, everyone that works at the company has had classes in this building and you don’t want to mess up something like that. Thankfully Progressive Materials came up with a custom color to match the brick and I think it turned out really good. Thank you Bethel Schools for trusting us with this project even when we weren’t so sure of how the outcome would be.

We have been working with this customer for a couple years trying to get the roof leaks to stop. He knew he wanted the Duro-Last white single ply 60 mil roof system. We removed all the existing duct work and old A/C unit. We installed 1 1/2” iso on majority of roof and a tapered systems on one of the sections. Also installed a roof cricker to divert water to the drains. Installed all new metal around the perimeter and even put copper around his chimney. What a difference a roof can make
