School may be out, but the drop zone is still working.
Here in Williamsburg, the first week of summer does not always feel slower. There are camp bags by the door, VBS supplies, pool towels, work gear for older kids, shoes coming and going, and all the little things that seem to collect near the entry.
That is where a well-planned mudroom can make a real difference.
These three custom cabinetry projects all solve the same basic problem, but each one does it in a slightly different way.
One uses a built-in bench with drawers, cubbies, and baskets to keep everyday items close without leaving them out in the open.
Another has a locker-style setup with hooks, tall cabinets, upper bins, and lower drawers, giving the family a good mix of hidden storage and quick access.
The larger mudroom gives the homeowners even more room to sort, store, and reset, with deep drawers, a long bench, tall storage, and upper cabinet space that still feels finished.
What I like about all three is that they are built around real life. A family drop zone is not just for backpacks during the school year. It works just as hard during summer, when the schedule shifts but the clutter does not disappear.
Good custom cabinetry gives everything a place to land, and that helps the whole home feel a little more manageable.
