A special moment from our 80th anniversary celebration.
We were honored to have Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz join us and present Geddis Paving & Excavating with an official proclamation from the City of Toledo recognizing our 80 years in business.
Toledo has been home to Geddis since Robert Geddis Sr. started the company here in 1946 with one backhoe and one dump truck. Three generations later, we’re proud to still call this community home — and proud of the work our people have done throughout Toledo and Northwest Ohio over the decades.
Thank you to Mayor Kapszukiewicz and the City of Toledo for this recognition. It was a meaningful way to mark a milestone that belongs to everyone who has been part of the Geddis story.

Ten years ago, in 2016, the City of Toledo didn’t resurface a single road. Not one. Zero. Since then, however, we’ve dedicated 15x more funding to our road resurfacing program, and as a result, we resurface well over 100 roads per year — every year! We wouldn’t have been able to produce such incredible results without great partners like Geddis Paving, a 3rd generation Toledo business that has been serving our community for 80 years. I was thrilled to be able to honor them at their anniversary celebration last week!

80 years — and what a day to celebrate it! 🎉
Last Friday, we gathered at our South Toledo shop with our crews, customers, and partners to celebrate 80 years of Geddis Paving & Excavating.
What started in 1946 with one backhoe and one dump truck has grown into three generations of family ownership and a team we’re proud to work alongside every day.
Eight decades in business doesn’t happen without great people who show up and do the work, or without customers and partners who continue to put their trust in us.
We loved seeing so many familiar faces. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate — and to everyone who has been part of the Geddis story over the past 80 years. Enjoy a few photos from the day!

Residential road construction update: From the end of July into August, our main focus has been utility and road repairs. We’re currently working on replacing water mains in numerous neighborhoods.

📸 (pictured) Evesham from Nebraska to Avondale: Utility work includes 1,500 feet of new water main, new hydrants, valves, and service lines. Road construction includes curbs, drive aprons, and pedestrian ramps.

💧 Highland from N. Detroit to Collingwood: Utility work includes 1,100 feet of new water main, new hydrants, valves, and service lines. Road construction includes curbs, drive aprons, sidewalks, storm drains, and pedestrian ramps.

💧 Hoops, Gallier, and Geiger: Utility work includes 1,600 feet of water main replacement, new hydrants, valves, and service lines. Road construction includes curbs, storm drains, and drive aprons.

🚧MONCLOVA & WVILLE MONCLOVA
Concrete incoming! That's right, Geddis Paving & Excavating, Inc. is moving right along, completing the drainage work and laying down the aggregate road base to end week 2. They will be finishing up the underdrains today and starting on staking the intersection for curb, splitter islands and the center island, with concrete work beginning mid next-week.

***School will be starting Monday, so if you're not being picked up by a bus, the only access for drop-off/pick up is coming from the south up Waterville Monclova into the main parking lot. We will post a map from the school district this weekend with a closer view of the school campus and the larger work zone.

The temporary access path on Monclova Rd connected to the north lot remains CLOSED to thru traffic and is for emergency vehicles and school buses only. We know the first few days will be tough and adjustment, but we will all get through it together. Additional law enforcement will be at the school and at Black and Waterville Monclova to help assist with traffic. We have less than a month left of construction, so by next week, we will be past the halfway point.

REMINDER: There is also still access to local businesses like the US Post Office, Freeze Daddys Ice Cream, Monclova Community Center and Anthony Wayne Tire & Auto Repair.
