We were glad to be in the room last night at the Wood County Economic Development Commission Annual Dinner.

We had a great time last week supporting First Tee - Lake Erie at their “Friday at the Masters” event.

It’s always a good day when you can spend time with great people, talk a little golf, and support a program that’s doing such great work in our community. First Tee is helping kids build confidence, learn life skills, and just have fun, and that’s something we’re proud to be part of.

A few of our Lathrop team members were able to attend, and it was awesome to connect with so many familiar faces and new ones as well.

Big thanks to First Tee - Lake Erie for putting on such a fun event, we’re already looking forward to the next one.

During Women in Construction Week, we celebrate the women across our teams, from the field to the office, who strengthen our industry and build strong together. Today, we’re highlighting Karen Karl and the collaboration, innovation, and impact she brings to her role every day.

Karen believes her team’s strength comes from supportive leadership, accessible subject matter experts, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. As the team grows, they continue to foster a culture rooted in creativity, collaboration, and respect.

During Women in Construction Week, we celebrate the women across our teams, from the field to the office, who strengthen our industry and build strong together. Today, we’re highlighting Valentina Campos-Yánez and the leadership and forward-thinking mindset she brings to her role every day.

For Valentina, being part of the team means having leaders who truly care about development. Even when they are busy, they make time to mentor and create space for questions, fostering an environment where everyone feels supported to grow.

In her role, Valentina reviews and validates project costs to help maximize earnings and maintain financial accuracy. She enjoys collaborating across teams and contributing to each project’s success. There is nothing more rewarding to her than seeing a building rise from the ground up.
Valentina is motivated to create space for the next generation of multicultural women in construction. She believes no one is more important than those who come next and is committed to helping pave the way forward.

She has learned that great leadership requires proactiveness and assertiveness. Early in her career, Joe Cleveland invested time in mentoring her, and she was inspired by Aaron Terry’s patience and drive to improve processes.

This week, we celebrate leaders like Valentina and the mentors who help shape the future of our industry.
