Follow these easy steps to clean the kitchen sink's disposal/drain:
* Put the sink stopper in the drain
* Fill the sink with a few inches of HOT water
* Add a tablespoon of liquid dish soap (Dawn brand is best)
* Remove the stopper from the drain
* Turn the garbage disposal on and let it run until the soap suds
are gone

The soap helps cut through grease or fat stuck in the drain.

You could also add lemon wedges, coarse salt and ice cubes to the disposal, then run the disposal until the ice is gone. The salt will scrub the blades, the ice will knock away gunk and the lemon will deodorize the drain.
