Local 500 was formed in October 1919.Local 500 represents over a thousand members working in the Building Trades Construction Industry. We are skilled in the placement and removal of concrete, brick mason tenders, demolition, asbestos removal, grade checking, flagging, carpenter tenders, hazardous waste removal, tunneling and much more. Currently, we service Lucas, Wood, Defiance, Fulton, Henry an
d Williams Counties in Ohio. We work throughout the state of Ohio under the Heavy Highway Agreement administered by the Ohio Laborers’ District Council. Our mission is to create and retain jobs, train our workforce to not just be the most efficient and productive “construction worker” but the most efficient and productive “worker” on the entire job site. We want to be every contractor’s preferred and desired workforce. We strive to be actively engaged in political and community affairs directly affecting our membership and the communities we live and service. Local 500 is an affiliate of LIUNA—the Laborers’ International Union of North America—the most progressive, aggressive and fastest-growing union of construction workers. LIUNA is one of the most diverse and effective unions in America. LIUNA members are united through collective bargaining agreements which help us earn family-supporting pay, good benefits and the opportunity for advancement and better lives.
