This is a real home after a severe fire. Even when the flames are out, the damage does not stop at what you can see. Heat, smoke, and soot travel through the entire house and affect structure, finishes, and personal belongings.
One small tip we always share. Once or twice a year, take a few quick photos or short videos of your home with your phone. Walk room to room. Open closets. Snap shelves and cabinets. We are already taking photos every day, so why not take a few of your home.
If something unexpected ever happens, those pictures can help remind you what you had when things feel overwhelming and help with proof for insurance.
This walkthrough shows why taking your time and documenting everything matters after a loss.
