Before our interns headed back to the books, we had to make one more round of the jobsites! They revisited KBS projects they toured earlier in the summer to see just how much can change in a few short months.

There’s no better classroom than a jobsite, and we enjoyed giving this crew a closer look at the people, planning and craftsmanship behind the work. Thanks for spending your summer with us!

Summer went fast! As our interns head back to school, they wrapped up their time at KBS by taking the floor for their capstone presentations. They shared what they worked on, what they learned and a few lessons they’ll take with them into the classroom and beyond.

We’ve really enjoyed having this group on the KBS team this summer. Thanks for jumping in, asking good questions and keeping us on our toes. Good luck this semester — we’ll be cheering you on!

Today marked an important milestone for Shawnee County Kansas with the open house for its new Behavioral Health Unit. Designed to provide specialized housing and programming of inmates who suffer with severe and persistent mental illness, this facility reflects a thoughtful investment in people and our community. KBS is proud to have partnered with the Shawnee County Department of Corrections and HTK Architects to help Build What Matters.

We had a great time celebrating the groundbreaking of the Security Benefit Children's Zoo and Randolph Austin Family & The Merchants of Fairlawn Plaza Play Zone at the Topeka Zoo! This new space will give kids and families more ways to play, explore and learn about Kansas agriculture and the natural world. We’re proud to keep building alongside the Topeka Zoo, TESSERE and our project partners to create something special for our community! 🐐

What a great day at the Topeka Zoo!

Yesterday, Tiger Trails & Den Academy officially opened, marking an exciting new chapter for the Zoo and our community. It was a privilege to celebrate alongside the Topeka Zoo, TESSERE, our trade partners and everyone whose hard work made this project possible.

From the very beginning, this project was built through collaboration. Together, we created a space that supports exceptional animal care, inspires conservation and gives visitors of all ages a chance to connect with wildlife in meaningful ways.

Congratulations to the Topeka Zoo on this incredible addition. Thank you for trusting KBS to be part of a project that will welcome families, educate future generations and strengthen our community for years to come.

Learning is part of how we Build What Matters. During our quarterly All Company Training, the KBS team participated in an in-depth session on Division 8: Storefront and Curtain Wall Systems. Big thanks to Manko Window Systems & AGS for strengthening our technical knowledge and understanding of these complex building components!
