Today, the MCP family remembers and celebrates the life of Ray Buyle, a former colleague, respected leader, teacher, mentor, and lifelong builder who recently passed away following his courageous battle with ALS.

Ray joined McPherson Contractors, now MCP Group, in 1993 and spent 14 years with our company. During that time, he left his mark on countless people and projects, but perhaps none more recognizable than the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics in Lawrence, Kansas, where Ray served as Project Manager.

For a proud K-State alumnus, we have to imagine spending that much time building a landmark on the KU campus required a special kind of professional dedication. We like to think Ray made sure it was built exceptionally well because, Wildcat or not, he simply didn’t know how to do things any other way.

But the structures Ray helped build tell only part of his story.

After more than two decades in the construction industry, Ray took his knowledge and experience into the classroom at Kansas State University, where he spent 17 years helping prepare the next generation of construction and engineering professionals. He ultimately became professor and head of the GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science in K State’s Carl R. Ice College of Engineering.

In other words, Ray went from building remarkable projects to building remarkable people.

Those of us in construction know that our best work is meant to outlast us. Buildings stand. Lessons get passed down. Relationships continue. And the people we mentor go on to build things we may never get to see.

Ray’s legacy does all of those things.

We are grateful that MCP was part of his story, and even more grateful that Ray was part of ours.

Our thoughts are with Ray’s family, friends, former colleagues, students and the entire K-State community as they remember a man whose influence on the Kansas construction industry will be felt for generations.

Rest well, Ray. Thank you for everything you built. 💜

If you manage a commercial property, the last thing you need is a different contractor for every issue that comes up.

MCP Facility Services provides a wide range of solutions for commercial properties, including building maintenance, pavement solutions, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, tenant finishes, and more.

That means fewer contractors to coordinate, fewer calls to make, and one reliable point of contact for the work your property needs.

Work is underway on Torgeson Electric’s newest Manhattan office.

Crews took advantage of a break in the weather last week to complete the slab-on-grade for the new 11,000+ sq. ft. facility.

With the slab complete, work is moving into the next phase. Upcoming site activities include sanitary and storm sewer installation, water service, site grading and underground electrical rough-in.

We’re proud to play a part in this next chapter for Torgeson Electric in Manhattan, Kansas!

Our Facility Services team recently completed the renovation of the 10th floor at the Landon State Office Building in downtown Topeka. The 10,000 square-foot office remodel transformed the space with new drywall, lighting, HVAC systems, paint, casework, acoustical ceiling tile, doors, hardware, and glazing.

From demolition to the finishing touches, our crew delivered a modern, functional workspace that will better serve the building’s occupants. Great work to everyone involved in bringing this project to the finish line!

A few weeks ago, we broke the ice at Evergy Plaza. Since then, construction has been taking shape.

Designed by Architect One, the MCP Facility Services team is constructing the permanent ice rink, turning a vision into a long-awaited reality. Once complete, the new rink will create a year-round gathering space in the heart of Downtown Topeka for residents and visitors alike.

We’re honored to play a role in a project that will have a lasting impact on our community. Stay tuned for progress updates as construction moves forward.

The Reserves at Grand View Heights is officially complete!

Located in Laramie, Wyoming, this new multi-family community adds 42 residential units across two 3-story walk-up buildings, along with covered parking and a resident clubhouse.

From the retaining wall stonework that shapes the site to the modern finishes throughout each unit, this project required attention to detail at every stage of construction.

Building in Wyoming comes with its own unique challenges, from weather and site conditions to the logistics that come with working in a growing mountain community.

Thanks to the hard work of our project teams and trade partners, we successfully delivered a new community that residents will be proud to call home.
