If you ask the team at HTK, many will say their favorite work events are our Volunteer Days. We recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity on building an affordable housing project. We love helping build thriving communities whether that's drawing an elementary school renovation or nailing some boards on a new house!

HTK is proud to stand alongside the Kansas National Guard, Governor Laura Kelly and other State Leaders to cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Kansas City Readiness Center. In addition to serving the Kansas Army National Guard, it is also home to the STARBASE program providing Stem education opportunities for elementary students in the Kansas City area.

Following flooding of the building, the HTK team renovated, repaired and upgraded many components of the 1956 facility, modernizing it and giving it a new identity in the community.

At Basehor-Linwood High School and the Basehor-Linwood Early Learning Center, our team has been documenting spaces as they move through construction and pairing those moments with the original design renderings. The result is a powerful side-by-side of imagination and reality in progress.

One of our superpowers as designers is the ability to see what doesn’t exist yet and translate that vision into something others can believe in. Seeing those ideas take shape in real time is why we do what we do.

We’re proud to be wrapping up work for the Concordia R2 Schools with HTK Architects! Recent improvements include a new entryway and press box, a quarter-mile track and science classroom renovations at the high school and a refreshed gymnasium, and a new elevator at the elementary school.

It’s always rewarding to help create safe, modern spaces that support students, staff, and the entire community.

What really sets Zach apart? His mentorship, his steady leadership, and that easy-going personality that somehow makes even the toughest days more fun. He brings the laughs, the guidance, and the heart to everything we do.

The Gage Park Carousel building will undergo an expansion to support year-round operation, long-term preservation of the historic carousel, and the addition of a flexible shelter space for Parks & Recreation programs and summer camps. A Topeka favorite, thoughtfully planned for the next 50+ years.

Thank you to Shawnee County Parks + Recreation, the Shawnee County Commission, and KBS Constructors for the opportunity to collaborate on this meaningful community project. We’re excited to help shape the next chapter of Gage Park.

The Gage Park carousel will close this summer as Shawnee County Parks and Recreation begins an expansion of the carousel building that could allow year-round operation in the future.
