Pro tips.

- Get some post emergent weed killer ready for all those beds full of weeds, cracks in your driveway, etc because once this rain comes weed growth is going to explode.

- Crab grass is about to go bananas. If you didn't get a pre-emergent down in the spring there is not much you can do by way of ridding crab grass IN your lawn. Selective post emergent crab grass killers(chemicals designed to kill crab grass but not your lawn) are generally not effective.

- Cut your cool season grass(fescue/kentucky bluegrass/ryegrass/etc) at minimum height of 3.5 inches for the next few months to spare your grass undue stress from excess heat and a lack of water.

- If you have warm season grass(bermuda/zoysia/etc) cut at a minimum height of 3.0 inches for the same reasons.

- Even if you have a sprinkler system you will find it hard to compete with mother nature during times of drought. As a general rule I recommend giving your lawn 1 inch of water a week(all at once) during dry times. Your lawn will likely still go somewhat dormant but it will help to make it more hardy by encouraging roots to grow deeper into the soil.

We got a late start to this season due the timing of the Covid-19 pandemic and the wet weather the last couple of weeks has put even further behind. All of our time in June will be focused on catching up with our current customer base and workload.
