Great opportunity for the community.
In preparation for the first professional hockey game in Topeka in twenty years, Shawnee County Parks + Recreation will be hosting meet & greets at select community centers starting this weekend.
Starting on Sunday, January 19, Crestview Community Center, 4801 SW Shunga Dr, will host a meet and greet with select players from the Danville Dashers and Baton Rouge Zydeco will be available for autographs from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will also be a chance to learn more about the sport, with demonstrations performed by the players. There is also a chance for people to try out playing the game, as there will be nets set up for people to try to score a goal.
There will be two other opportunities to meet and greet players at other community centers. They will be at Hillcrest Community Center, 1800 SE 21st St., from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21 and at Garfield Community Center, 1600 NE Quincy St, on Thursday, January 23 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. At all three locations, all who attend will be eligible to win a four pack of tickets to one of the four games being played at the Stormont Vail Event Center. All three meet & greets are free to the public.
The Danville Dashers will be playing four games in Topeka, with games against the Baton Rouge Zydeco on January 24 and 25, and then against the Port Huron Prowlers on January 31 and February 1. All games start at 7:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets by going to the Cable Dahmer Box Office or online at stormontvaileventscenter.com.
