Hydro jetting vs. power snaking: what is the difference?
Power snaking usually opens a pathway through a clog to restore immediate flow. Hydro jetting uses controlled high-pressure water to remove more grease, roots, sludge, and debris from the inside of the drain.
Snaking may be the right first step when water is standing, access is limited, or the condition of the pipe is still unknown. When conditions support it, hydro jetting is generally the more complete cleaning solution.
The goal is not simply to choose the more powerful tool. It is to understand the drain, relieve the immediate problem, clean the line when appropriate, and verify the result.
